Jenna, as confirmed by many outlets, has been dating photographer Cass Bird, as the outlet confirmed in June. Jenna, LoveSeen‘s C.E.O and former J. Crew President and Executive Creative Director joined the show’s all-new and dynamic cast of RHONY as the first openly gay New York City wife. Her instinct to keep her love life off-camera, by many, has also been related to her forced coming out as a lesbian. A June 2023 New York Times profile on Jenna Lyons suggests that she will most likely talk about Cass Bird on the RHONY. Yet, she did recently admit in this interview that although the relationship she kept under wraps previously in the Hamptons had ended, she did open up to the other RHONY ladies about it during an event celebrating one of their castmate’s marriages.
It is not understood when Jenna started dating Cass. The relationship seems to be relatively new. As Jenna told in the said interview in April 2023 about “currently” having “a massive crush on someone else”.
It is also not clear who exactly Jenna was dating during the Topping Rose dinner with her RHONY castmates, i.e., before Cass.
Was Cass Bird Previously Married?
It seems Cass Bird has never been married. However, she was in a relationship, like no less than a marriage before. She used to romance Ali Bird, and they had known each other for half their lives. Until 2017, they had been together for 14 years. They first met in 1997 and, after “numerous false starts”, they forged a partnership which they also tried out professionally. Also, despite not getting married, they shared a surname. Marriage they thought was “too easy” and so they had not signed up for one. Yet, they did not mind having two kids. In 2018, Cass gave birth to Leo, and 20 months later Ali birthed Mae. “We wanted to start a family and buy a house. And We saved money. We did it. When gay marriage became legal, we had already made the biggest commitment.”, they said together sometime in 2017. If by “the biggest comment” they meant marriage, it is not understood. Also, it is not known how and when such an inspirational couple broke up. The last time, they were seen at the WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards at the Museum of Modern Art on 1 November 2021.
Every time, Cass used to address Ali as her wife and they comment “We are not technically married, I just don’t know how else to refer to her.”
Unlike with Jenna, Cass did not keep her life with Ali and their kids, away from social media or media outlets. On their respective IG accounts, both Cass and Ali Bird routinely posted lip-synching videos, glimpses of family vacations, and just everyday lives with their kids. They also openly conversed about what it takes to raise children while working in creative industries with the likes of Vogue and The Gap.
As for Cass’s now partner Jenna, she was married to artist Vincent Mazeau from 2002 to 2011. At the time, they had a son, Beckett Lyons Mazeau, who just celebrated his sweet 16. During her divorce from Mazeau, Jenna discovered that she was a lesbian. She started dating jewelry designer Courtney Crangi and this was outed by the New York Post. They separated in 2017.
