She studied mechanical engineering and art at Stanford University in California. Until she relocated to Greenwich, Connecticut, where she was introduced to stone sculpture, she worked for Mattel Toys in the overseas manufacturing/design section.
Catherine then changed her medium and used sand casting and the lost wax technique to cast bronze.
