Catherine Bohrman owns a summer studio in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, which was constructed in 1900 and has been used by three generations of painters in her family. Her hands were constantly busy, and she grew up creating anything she could find and assisting her father in his studio.

She studied mechanical engineering and art at Stanford University in California. Until she relocated to Greenwich, Connecticut, where she was introduced to stone sculpture, she worked for Mattel Toys in the overseas manufacturing/design section.
