We’ve been introduced to shows like Netflix’s Indian Matchmaking or Indian Matchmaking where the hopeful romantics are looking for someone from their own community. And now, TLC is trying its hand at connecting couples, but they are going international!
Match Me Abroad follows seven single looking for love outside the US following their unlucky history in their home country. These seven individuals are split among three matchmakers in South America, Europe, and Africa, where they’ll continue their quest for love.
Our star, Chad Gupton was assigned to Juan Nino, the CEO of Relationship Coach Colombia since 2020.
“I believe Colombian women respect marriage more than American women,” Chad in the teaser. Also, he reveals that his dream was to find a woman and bring her back home to Tennessee, where they’ll live with his mom and his dogs.
Alongside Chad, his co-stars Susan and Nathaly were also assigned to Juan. Together, the trio filmed the series in the capital city of Bogotá, and several other locations within Colombia.
Now, comes the big question — is Match Me Abroad scripted? No, the show isn’t scripted. The professional matchmakers in the series are indeed real matchmakers who are well-known in their country for their jobs. Also, the participants and the cast did travel internationally to find their international love. A proof? When the trailers for season 1 were released, Yvette Givens, a friend of Harold Davis II, commented, “I can’t wait to see it, Harold! I remember Covid testing you before you went flying out there!”
Another reason why we can confirm that the show’s not scripted is the legitimacy of a person to have when it comes to relationships. For instance, Harold wanted to have a prenup before even meeting his partner.
