Miranda Cosgrove kick-started her career back in 2004 as the diabolical younger sister, “Megan Parker,” on Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh. After the series ended in 2007, the actor went on to headline her own series dubbed iCarly, where she played “Carly Shay.”
iCarly ended in 2012. But the show was rebooted by Paramount Plus in 2021, and now, it’s in its third season.
In the show, Miranda’s character Carly has an interesting familial arrangement. She was basically raised by her older brother Spencer, while their father, a member of the Air Force, was stationed overseas (almost indefinitely). And their mother was mentioned!
But unlike the show, Miranda’s mother IRL, Chris Cosgrove, is always there for her.

She’s also her “night TV-watching buddy” who lets her eat as much cake batter as she wants (even though you’re not supposed to because there’s raw egg in it.) “She tells me what to do even though I’m old and she’s always there when I’m sad,” the star added.
Back in August 2011, when Miranda got into a bus accident, her mother was there alongside her. It seems that the duo was on the tour bus which into a semitrailer that had overturned and was blocking the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 between St. Elmo and Brownstown.
After the accident, the mother-daughter pair were taken to St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Chris Cosgrove is a homemaker. She spent her life taking care of her husband and their daughter, thanks to which Miranda’s a star now.
However, Chris initially was skeptical about exposing her daughter to the entertainment industry at such a young age, but she gave in as she saw an opportunity to get funds for college. “Our big plan when we decided to do this was to get money for college,” Chris told The New York Times.
Recalling the old days, Miranda also shared, “It took a lot for my mom to give in. I remember her asking: ‘Are you sure you want to do this? Are you sure you want to stay in acting?’”
So, once Miranda made up her mind, Chris homeschooled her. This meant most of the actor’s time was spent with her parents. Obviously, she missed them a lot when she moved away from home to attend the University of California. Thus, to cope with it, she split her time between her home and her parent’s home.
She shared, “I feel like everybody wants to find a way to get out and be independent, but for me, it was like all of a sudden I had this place that I could go live at and I was like, ‘Oh no.’ My mom is not doing my laundry and I have no one to watch TV with at night.”
