Caitlin Covington got married to Chris Dorsch on 3 June 2018. In front of their loved ones and friends, the couple exchanged vows in Charleston, North Carolina. Caitlin, who traveled to Greenville, North Carolina for her first “big girl job,” according to her website, met Chris not long after she arrived there.
“I met Chris 18 days after moving, although I wasn’t interested in him at first (haha). Chris pursued me and convinced me to go on a lunch date with him, which he called “harmless” and the “friend zone.” After that first date, I was a goner! I fell for him quickly.”
The couple also had a daughter named Kennedy.
She has, of course, been busy ever since. She has not only kept her influencer status, but she has also grown her family! Collins Francis Dorsch, Caitlin’s second daughter, was born on January 26, 2023.
Caitlin has more than a million Instagram followers, and her blog “Southern Curls and Pearls” is a popular shopping destination, but the influencer acknowledges that her online persona is “definitely not” a true reflection of her life.
Covington had no intention of making a career out of blogging. The passion project she began in 2011 to document sorority life at UNC Chapel Hill took off about the same time that Instagram began to gain popularity. She never anticipated how many likes and shares her postings would receive, and as she rose to fame on social media, she began to experience debilitating anxiety and sadness.
“I had never experienced anxiety or panic attacks until I started blogging,” the 28-year-old says. “All of a sudden, I had all of these eyes on me, and they were starting to pick apart my personal life.”
“People can be so cruel on the internet,” she says, and it was only a matter of time until it became too much: “I could be doing something simple, and then all of a sudden I would have a panic attack.”
Caitlin’s nervousness started getting in the way of her ability to work. She discovered that she was doing her grocery shopping online only to get away from other people.
“I’m a very social person,” she told PEOPLE, “My husband and I love to go out and see friends — it was really unlike me to not want to be in any social situation at all.”
Covington discovered what was supposed to be one of the most joyful times in her life felt terrible as she was organizing her 2018 wedding to Chris Dorsch.
“It was no longer about me and my husband,” she says. “I wasn’t thinking about us getting married and how I got to spend my life with him — I started thinking, ‘Oh my gosh there are gonna be 800 thousand people that are gonna be watching my wedding and judging it … it was really sad.’ ”
Caitlin was honest with her mother and fiancé. They urged her to change her way of life and visit a doctor, who ultimately gave her the antidepressant Lexapro. She is no longer afraid to share the reality behind her glossy photos.
“I have a lot of flaws,” she admitted, “My marriage isn’t perfect and my life isn’t perfect … but I know that even if my blog were to fail, or if everyone decided to turn their back on me and they hated me, I would be okay … I have a family, my husband loves me no matter what, I feel really secure now.”
On Chris’s birthday in March 2023, Caitlin wished her husband, “Happy birthday, @cmdorsch!!! Words can’t express how thankful we are for you ❤️ seeing you as such a wonderful father to our girls makes me fall in love with you all over again. You deserve the best today (and every day) 🎉.”

Born Christopher Dorsch, he is the son of the late Teri Dorsch and Michael (Mike) J. Dorsch.
Michael was born on January 1, 1956, in Ripon, WI to Col. Donald A. Dorsch (retired) and Joan B. Dorsch (Florek). He earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, an MBA from Arizona State University, and a PhD from the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville. He married Theresa (Teri) A. Dorsch (Allemand) on July 28, 1984. In 1986, Mike and Teri moved to Ames, Iowa where he was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Iowa State University; and in 1993, Mike and his family moved to Clemson, SC to accept a position as an Assistant Professor of Marketing. He ultimately was promoted to Professor of Marketing at Clemson University in 2007.
Michael died at the age of 63 in November 2018 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
In August 2020, Chris shared about his father, “Today, my Dad was recognized as a Professor Emeritus of Marketing at Clemson University. My family is so proud of what he accomplished at Clemson and the impact he made on the Marketing Discipline. #ProudSon #GonebutNeverForgotten #CheersToYouDad.”
Chris’s mom Teri was born on March 10, 1960, in Beaver Dam, WI to Mr. George E. Allemand and Joan B. (Boughton) Allemand, both deceased now. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, and a MBA from the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville. She was a lecturer in the Marketing Department at Iowa State University; and in 1993, Teri and her family moved to Clemson, SC. From 2007-2009, Teri was the Optical Shop Assistant Manager at Clemson Ophthalmology. From 2010 to her death, Teri was the Office Manager at Seneca Pediatric Endocrinology.
Teri was 53 when she died on 20 October 2013 after a one and one-half year battle with triple-negative breast cancer.
