Claire Kelly On Netflix’s Blown Away Season 3
Claire Kelly is one of the casts in the show. She sees herself as a “storyteller in glass”. Speaking of her craft, Claire said that glass gives her “courage”. Moreover, most of Claire’s work is inspired by animals, color, memory, and pattern. She created plenty of elephants due to their unique role as beloved childhood toys, famous decorative figures with a strong history in glassmaking, and a perilously threatened species.
Claire cited her time working for Robin Mix in Vermont as her biggest influence. She explained in an interview, “I learned a lot from him and he really put me through my paces as a glassblower”.
In 2018, Claire told The English Room, that her dream commission is “A Noah’s Ark”. She loves the piece for its challenging nature while figuring out how to create all the different animals and design an amazing mosaic pattern for the Ark in blown glass.
For her, personal life and work fall under the same structure. She is cautious about taking time for herself because when she is tired chances of accidents increases.
Joining her on this journey are the other nine contestants Trenton Quiocho, Rob Stern, John “Sleepy” Moran, Maddy Hughes, Dan Friday, Brenna Baker, Minhi England, John Sharvin, and Grace Whiteside.
