After his career-ending injury, Conor Gilsenan was set on making his mark in the corporate world. So, what better place than the BBC One show to start his journey? This talented lad joined The Apprentice for its 16th installment, in hopes of becoming one of the official members working for Alan Sugar, and earning that 6 figure salary
Joining him this season were co-competitors — Aaron Willis, Akeem Bundu-Kamara, Akshay Thakrar, Alex Short, Amy Anzel, Brittany Carter, Francesca Kennedy Wallbank, Harry Mahmood, Harpreet Kaur, Kathryn Louise Burn, Navid Sole, Nick Showering, Sophie Wilding, Shama Amin, and Stephanie Affleck.
The youngest participant then was 25 (Brittany), and the oldest was 48 (Amy).
Conor Gilsenan Injury
Conor Gilsenan was a pro-rugby player who first started his career in 2013, after being signed with Connacht. He went on to play a season with them and competed at the RaboDirect PRO12. Next year, Conor was then signed by London Irish, and he had been a regular of the team until his career abruptly came to an end in 2020.
Detail about his injury wasn’t shared.
A posting a farewell letter over IG, Conor wrote, “I leave the game with memories to last me a lifetime, teammates who have become best friends and life lessons that I believe will stand me in good stead for the next chapter of my life.”
Also, he added that it wasn’t the way he wanted to finish. But he finds himself “incredibly fortunate enough” to have had his “dream job.”
Listing all the competitions Conor played for London Irish are — Anglo-Welsh Cup (2014), England Premiership (2014), Guinness Premiership (2015, 2017, 2019), England Championship (2016, 2018), British and Irish Cup (2016), Premiership Rugby Cup (2019), and European Rugby Challenge Cup (2014, 2015, 2017, 2019).
What Do We Know About Conor Gilsenan Post-Rugy Career?
Conor Gilsenan’s first job after his rugby career ended was as a “partnership manager” for Detected, a global mark of trust for eCommerce. He shared that he was responsible for new and existing partnerships across integration, marketing, and activation there.
He left Detected after 1 year and 2 months in October 2021 and opened The 301 Bar with the rugby player Topsy Ojo. They operated their mobile bar from a fully converted Land Rover Defender, with 6 taps and a mobile cooling unit.
Also, in Dec 2021, Conor joined FIS as a sales executive.
As for his education, he graduated from Clongowes Wood College in 2011 and went on to join the University College of Dublin for his bachelor’s in commerce. Also, at the same time, he joined Higher Education Training Awards Council for his diploma in professional rugby. Graduated from both in 2015, he then immediately joined Northumbria University and completed his degree in leadership and management two years later.

Conor Gilsenan Wife
Conor Gilsenan wasn’t married as of 2022, but he already had a soon-to-be wife named Megan Scanlan. The two were engaged a week before Christmas 2021.
His future wife, Megan is also in the sales field and was working as a senior account executive at Square. Before that, she was a “sales executive” working for INFO GRID, and an “account director” working at WeWork.
Also, Megan worked in the sales department of reputed companies like Linkedin, Trustpilot, Hays, HUGO BOSS, Dublin Institute of Technology, SEI, Murphy & Gunn, and Hollister Co.
As for her education, she went to Jesus and Mary College from 2006 to 2012 and joined the Dublin Institute of Technology for her bachelor’s degree in business and management. Megan graduated specializing in “Financial Services, Financial Strategy, Marketing Communications, and Global Strategic Management” in 2015.
Since first appearing on Conor’s IG in May 2017, Megan has often graced the star’s socials on holidays, birthdays, and several other celebrations.

Conor Gilsenan Family
Conor Gilsenan is open about his family when it comes to showing love. No wonder, he tagged his mother Joan Gilsenan over IG on Mothers day 2020. Also, Conor’s dad has graced his IG on father’s day 2018.
According to Conor, it was his parents’s “steadfast support” and “sacrifice” that allowed him to chase his passion for rugby. And one of the best parts of him following his dream was seeing them “proud” about it.
