The fourth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK premiered in September 2022 and fans have been introduced to a new batch of queens who are here for your entertainment. In her introduction video, she said, “I’ve decided to come here today as the famous Neptune statue in Cheltenham. Chuck in a penny and make a wish and if you’re lucky, maybe Neptune’ll give you a facial.”
Copper is proud to be a ginger and announces, “Gotta rep it for the gingers because we are what? Sexy!” She adds further, “In my real life I’m 38 but in my drag life, I’m four years old. She’s still a baby queen!” She also described her appearance on the show as “a bit of a dream come true.”
Following a pantomime performance at the Everyman Theatre, Copper’s drag career began, and the road to fame was prepared by Cheltenham school theater. She experienced bullying as a child not only because of her sexuality but also because of her ginger hair, but she found comfort and like-minded individuals when she joined the Everyman Youth Theatre.
Copper has been doing drag for only four years. She said about her 11 contestants, “All of us on the show got on really well together although there’s a lot of tongue in cheek joking about and shade throwing, but here is also so much love and I hope we’ll be a friendship group forever.”
“It wasn’t a good combination,” she told Gloucestershire Live. “Growing up as a queer person in Cheltenham was very challenging and I couldn’t talk to my parents about it so it was something I very much went through on my own. As I’m sure in every other place at the time it was frowned upon to be gay, and bullies at school latch on that straight away when there is something a bit different about you.”
Copper’s drag is very much inspired by pantomime and theatre. “It makes me a bit of a campy queen as I love singing and comedy, but at the same time that I’m becoming more confident as a queer person, my drag is also evolving to become a little bit more punk rock and political, and I’m embracing that side as well.”

Copper also managed to work through school by becoming a good sportsperson and joining the rugby team. Her running abilities landed her the position of wing. “Later I discovered drama and the drama studio at Bournside became my safe space, where I and my friends could hang out,” said Copper. “My drama teacher at the time, Miss Jenkins, was a lifesaver in more ways than one.”

Speaking with Fire and Iron, she said that her parents took her to their local theatre, Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham, to watch The Wizard of Oz’ which was her first experience to pursue a career in the arts.
She explained, “At the end of act one, it’s like a crazy climactic moment, and suddenly the orchestra goes MAD and the lights go MAD and everything goes WOAH and I was like *GASP* what is this?! I remember I got home that same evening and I remember saying to my Mum and Dad “I wanna do this” and then, very lucky, they signed me up to the Youth Theatre of that same theatre. That’s kinda where I lived out my teens. Had some amazing youth theatre directors, and kinda went through quite a few, but that became my kinda life then. I was there every Saturday, Sunday, every Thursday night as well, I just kinda super immersed myself in that world.”
