The creator of Rap Sh!t shared with The Hollywood Reporter that she conceived the idea for the show while she was still working on Insecure. The new HBO Max show follows two former high school friends who unexpectedly form a rap group.
American actor Daniel Augustin plays the role of Maurice in Rap Sh!t. Maurice is Shawna Clark’s funny co-worker and Shawna (played by Aida Osman) is an ambitious rapper from Miami waiting for her big break. Both Maurice and Shawn hate to work at their hotel jobs but Maurice somehow passed the time by shamelessly flirting with the female guests.
Daniel Augustin is the perfect casting for a show that takes its viewers into the rap scene considering the actor himself had become a hip-hop recording artist by the age of ten. At such a young age, Daniel had started a rap group at his church Agape Church of God. At age 21, Rap Sh!t star even recorded his first solo, Neo-Soul project titled: “I’m Sorry 4 the Delay.”
