CBS’s reality show ‘Survivor‘ has been one of the most popular reality shows in reality TV show history which has run for 22 years and completed 41 seasons. Now, the show is back for season 42 and fans are eager to learn who are the casts this season and more details about them.
One of the casts we are going to talk about is Daniel Strunk, a law clerk. He is a Survivor fan turned player who is a teenage cancer survivor who defeated Leukemia. He has won the big fight in life and possesses the determination and resilience to get to the end.
Daniel has been applying to be on the show since he was 18. In season 33, he almost made it as one of the contestants as Adam Klein’s alternate but got the call on March 8, 2016, letting him know that he would not be on the show. In the same way, he also almost made it in season 41 but COVID happened.
Speaking about his journey in Survivor, Daniel shared with WVXU.org, “just the idea of being stranded on an island was unbelievably exciting, and having to scavenge for food, and do these unbelievably cool-looking challenges. I always thought I’d be good at puzzles, even as a young kid”.
He came into the game with three strategies one of them is “goofy, not sneaky” and he shared with Parade that people were going to perceive him as a sneaky person. Then, he also revealed that he wants to ally with someone who is younger than him and has a different life background because they have so much to learn about each other.
Daniel is part of the Vati tribe and in the first few minutes of season 42, he fell and dislocated his shoulder while returning with paddles for the first team challenge.
The first contestant to get voted off was Zach Wurtenberger. The vote to kick him out even made history with a unanimous vote in 42 seasons. In the same way, Jackson Fox leaves Survivor halfway through the premiere because he had a health condition that could lead to some negative long-term side effects.

Speaking to WVXU’s Lucy May interview he shared, “I think I was 7 when the first season came out (in June 2000), and I watched along with my parents and my brother. It was like a family activity that we did … and from there on out, I was just hooked. I was a total fan”.
He lost his grandmother Lydia Strunk on 1 January 2015 at the age of 92 in Bristol. Lydia was born on 6 September 1922 in Gross Dembe, Poland. Thus, Daniel has Polish roots on his father’s side.

Daniel Strunk Job
Daniel Strunk began his career as a policy analyst with Jeb 2016, Inc. in Miami Florida in 2015. Then, he landed the job of Summer Law Clerk at Ohio Attorney General in May 2017. In 2018, he started working as a legal extern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut where he worked for five months till May 2018.
Daniel also worked as a summer associate for Latham & Watkins and Keating Muething & Klekamp in 2018.
From 2019 to 2020, he worked for the U.S. District Courts as Law Clerk for Judge Gary Feinerman. While in Ann Abor, Michigan, Daniel worked as Law Clerk for Judge Raymond Kethledge of U.S. Courts of Appeals. From November 2021, he has been working at Keller Lenkner LLC as an associate.
Whereas, Daniel completed his undergraduate education at Duke University where he earned a BS in Science and BA in Political Science. He completed his master of science in Politics and Public Policy from Trinity College Dublin in 2015 where he earned the Mitchell Scholarship.
