Lisa Kennedy Montgomery and Dave Lee dated each other for many years before they settled down with each other. The couple got married in 2000. Their marriage produced two kids, their daughter Pele born on 1 July 2005, and their second child Lotus Kennedy Lee born in 2008.

This led to an opportunity to start Supernatural, a boutique Mervin brand that lasted until 2003 and left him wanting more. Then, he started dreaming of owning his own company. Plus, the realization that the snowboarding career wouldn’t last very long and his Mike McEntire of Mack Dawg had advised him to do some saving.
With that piece of advice, Dave ended up building Signal, which allegedly generates $2-$3 million in revenue every year. The company created 4000 snowboards a year.
Speaking about his company he shared with XGAMES, “Signal is becoming a very special brand. It’s very much a labor of love and most days I’m absolutely in love with what we have going on. Some days are tough, typical for any small business really, but that keeps us on our toes. And, at the end of the day, we’ve built this business and its snowboards with years of hard work from the ground up and I’m proud of that.”

According to his LinkedIn, Dave served as a brand manager for Supernatural Mfg from August 1999- October 2003. From 2012-2016, he also became a brand ambassador for Leatherman Tool Group. Moreover, he became producer and host of Every Third Thursday from 2010.

But, in the summer, the board selling business slows down so, he was inspired to do marketing of coffee to support his board business during the off-season, which came from his habit of drinking 6 cups of Java a day. The company made Signal Coffee in August 2006 targeting the same snowboarding set that buys his winter sporting gear.
