Meet Deena Margolin, Big Little Feelings Host
The host of the podcast “Big Little Feelings” Deena spoke candidly about her failing marriage and detailed numerous instances in which her spouse Michael irritated her. Deena co-founded Big Little Things in 2020 with her best friend Kristin Gallant. In addition to providing courses for parents of children between the ages of 1 and 6, the brand also runs a podcast called After Bedtime with Big Little Feelings.
Kristin was a mom and Deena was a marriage and family therapist when they were planning to launch a business. Big Little Feelings is a no-judgment parenting group with an online course platform and an Instagram account.
Kristin and Deena grew up in Los Angeles and attended the same high school. With a traumatic experience in their own lives, they tried to turn their personal life experience into a business.
” The genesis was a real need. I was a stay-at-home mom at the time. My husband was working 12-, 14-hour days, we were living paycheck to paycheck, and I was struggling with postpartum anxiety. I had a three-year-old and a one-year-old, and with postpartum anxiety, you spiral about everything. I would text Deena. She’s this renowned child therapist, so I’d be asking her things, and then sometimes she’d be asking me things back—something random that a mom would know. We saw these gaps and how we could bridge them,” Kristin said.
At the end of 2019, Deena and Kristin started to kick the idea around of making a dream page and course that would be authentic, vulnerable, and judgment-free.
Deena added, “We went away—Kristin left the kids—and for three straight days we were in this house, brainstorming. And then in March of 2020, we did our first post. We had no followers. Kristin was waking up at five to work on it before the kids woke up, and I was working on it after leading my clinic all day in Los Angeles.”

In a Big Little Feelings episode titled “My Marriage Sucks After Having Kids – Deena’s On the Brink of Divorce,” Kristin and Deena discussed Deena’s failing marriage to Michael. Users were intrigued by the episode since it seems Deena was disclosing some rather private information about her spouse on the podcast, which she said he gave her permission to do.
“I feel so alone when I’m parenting and like, we are just roommates at this point,” Deena shared during the emotional episode.
Deena emphasized that their few excellent weeks would be followed by several poor weeks. She recalls that the day after the birth of their first child when she needed assistance not only with taking care of their infant but also herself, her husband was on business conference calls.
Deena also mentioned an event that happened while she and their infant, who was then three months old, were taking a neighborhood stroll. She and her infant were only inches away from being struck by a car, which she later discovered had been stolen. She experienced a really terrible occurrence, and when she called her husband to ask if he could pick her up outside the house, he said he had to get off a conference call.
Deena always knew she wanted two children, regardless of how she felt about her marriage to Michael after having their first child, and she still went ahead and had a second child with Michael, declaring “Not even a crumbling marriage was going to stop me.”
Deena appears to want a divorce, but Deena’s husband wants to keep working on keeping their marriage together, and he has now started going to therapy. She asserted that she had no idea how their connection would develop in the future.
“Hanging on by a thread. I think about divorce every day.” She also said: “I know separating is the right move for me and my health and then ultimately my family.”
Many others discovered the video out of pocket and began debating it on Reddit, complaining that Deena shouldn’t have been airing her dirty laundry out for the entire internet to see. The episode seems to have been produced with the goal that other married women could connect to what Deena was feeling.
