Delilah Winder On Barbecue Showdown Season 2
The American Barbecue Showdown season 2 is finally here! Following the country’s “best backyard smokers and competitive barbecuers as they compete for the title of American Barbecue Champion,” the show graced Netflix again on May 26, 2023.
Like the inaugural season, the second installment will follow contestants as they take on a challenge that tests their barbecue skills in ways “they couldn’t possibly imagine. From unique meats to old school techniques, they will have to prove they have the skills to smoke another day.”
Delilah Winder is one of the contestants in the Barbecue Showdown. She is a popular local chef who’s been in the food industry for over 2 decades. You might have also seen her on Throwdown with Bobby Flay (2008), The Best Thing I Ever Ate (2009), and the 18th Annual Trumpet Awards (2010).
As for her co-competitors, they are Thyron Mathews (an award-winning pitmaster who founded T&T BBQ, a family-owned sauce and dry rubs business that aims to bring the “southern explosive taste to northeast Iowa”), Cindy Hayter, Michelle Lundstrom aka Money Michelle (the host of Absolute Fire podcast), Joey Victorian (the owner of Victorian’s Barbecue), Eduardo Gonzalez, and Logan Sandoval (a chef and the owner of ZEF BBQ, a family-run pop-up that aims to “bridge the gap between old school technique and new school presentation, flavor, and execution.”)
How Much Is Delilah Winder Net Worth?
Delilah Winder garnered a net worth of above $2 million in 2023.
This talented chef started her career in 2000 by opening Bluezette, a Latin, Caribbean, and soul food restaurant in Philadelphia’s Old City district. There, she offered fresh, home-cooked meals, customized menu planning, and full meal preparation to include grocery shopping with dietary restrictions/concerns.
“From the all-blue room to the specialty rum drinks to the Southern fried chicken, ceviche, and smoked fish dishes, she has brought together all the things she loves,” her bio on “Black Living Knowledge” read.
In 2006, she then broadened her food resume with the publication of her favorite southern recipes in Delilah’s Everyday Soul: Southern Cooking With Style cookbook. Many of the recipes there included the dishes that made Delilah a favorite chef to a host of celebrities and earned her several features on various media platforms.
You can find her book on Amazon for $13.53.
Soon, her recipes then received numerous accolades, including Best Mac & Cheese by Oprah Winfrey, 100 Favorite Foods by Saveur Magazine, and Best of Philly, and the restaurant shot into the spotlight.
But Delilah was never meant to be a chef. Infact, upon graduating from high school, she moved to New York and pursued a degree in interior design from the New York School of Design. After graduating in 1970, she then moved to Philadelphia, married, and became an award-winning business analyst at Colonial Penn Life Insurance.
Now, besides running her own restaurant, Delilah works as a Lead Chef Consultant at American Heart Association, and a Director at The Enterprise Center – The Center for Culinary Enterprise.
