Nick comes from an Asian household and has grown up expecting his parents’ approval for every important decision in his life, including his marriage. Given the distance between his native nation and that of his spouse, the relocation was always going to be difficult for him. Nick’s parents looked concerned about how they would cope without their son. Nick did admit that he did not want to marry without his parents’ permission. When his parents expressed their reservations about their relationship, Devin burst into tears since it was inexplicable to her. Nick, on the other hand, thought Devin’s family was “opinionated.”
“She wanted to go back, but I couldn’t imagine living in two different countries. So we got engaged and applied for the K-1 visa,” Nick explained. He intends to relocate to Searcy, where he and Devin will marry in 90 days.
“When we got engaged and applied for the K-1 visa … it’s all about paperwork. It wasn’t romantic at all. But I want to propose properly,” Nick said in the premiere.
Nick and Devin met on the dating service Tinder, and the latter decided to fly alone to Sydney, Australia, to meet her boyfriend. After three weeks together, the pair felt a strong connection and knew they were intended for each other. Nick and Devin were joyfully engaged by the end of the third week. Devin realized she didn’t want to live without Nick after returning to her hometown. He applied for the K1 Visa, and after two years of waiting, Nick arrived in the United States.
