Born in India, Sukanya grew up on Staten Island, the United States. In 1993, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Dickinson College.
Sukanya first shot into the limelight after winning her first Emmy for On-Camera Achievement from the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).
