The investigation into Donald Trump’s election case is being led by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ ex-husband, Fred Willis, which has generated interest in her family and ex-husband. She reportedly met her ex-husband Fred on the day she took the bar exam when she was at Howard University.

When they came into contact, Fred was in Atlanta doing his second job as a cameraman. “He had some really nice legs,” Fani recalled. “It produced me two beautiful girls. So that’s what made me decide to stay in Atlanta. I graduated [Emory] in May. I was married by November.”

Time magazine reported that Fani and her Fred divorced in 2005. The DA ensured her daughters were never neglected. She had a couch in her office so her children could visit and sleep there as she prepared for trial.

After the split, she “continued climbing, eventually serving as chief deputy DA, before returning to private practice in 2018.”

The couple had two daughters Nia Kisura and Kinaya Imani Willis, with Willis being a single mom for most of her career.

Fani discussed her divorce with South Atlanta Magazine: “I divorced when my children were very young, four and five years old. And, so, they had always had a mother that worked. I always had a couch in my office so that my children could come there and sleep as I prepare for trial.”

Nia is 21 years old and is studying journalism at a university, according to public records. Meanwhile, Kinaya is currently 24.

In 2018, Fani ran unsuccessfully for a Superior Court Judge seat. In 2019, Willis shortly assumed the position of Chief Municipal Court Judge for the City of South Fulton. Her combined pay from the two jobs was nearly $300,000, which was higher than anything she had previously made. She claims that getting new purses for her girls wouldn’t require much thought.

Fani first hesitated when she began to get requests to run for Fulton County DA in 2020 from people who were upset about what was happening in the DA’s office. The daughters of Willis opposed her running.

Fani was reared by her father, a radical political figure who supported black rights and a criminal defense attorney, who was also a member of the Black Panthers, She was born in Inglewood, California, in 1971. Prior to earning a law degree from Emory University in Georgia in 1996, she completed her undergraduate studies at the historically black Howard University in 1993.

Fred feels that the key to his success is having the ability to get people to do things they never thought they could do. He is a big fan of trying new things and encouraging innovation in his team. If there’s a better way to do something to get the desired results, Fred is open to trying it.

Talking about his job, Fred attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He studied broadcast journalism and graduated in 1984.
