Hisam Goueli On Big Brother 25

Three participants with connections to Washington State were featured on CBS’ “Big Brother” for its 25th season and one of them is Seattle resident Hisam Goueli.

“I work with older adults every day and you are not guaranteed another day,” Hisam said. “If you live to be 100 years old, you only get 36,500 days to live. And most people only live into their 70s, which is around 27,000 days. And I wanted to make sure that every day that I lived mattered and counted and I was living it to its full potential and going on adventures and experiencing new things.”

Hisam said his strategy will be to find another player who is conscientious and agreeable to be his “ride or die.”

“I want them to be someone who is good at keeping their emotions in check, someone who’s intelligent and [good at] maneuvering strategically,” he said. “Then the two of us will maneuver to create two groups that basically get split while we live in the middle and then are able to sway the vote based upon the dynamics of what is happening, never allowing either side to get too powerful.”

Felicia Cannon, 63, who was born in Tacoma, now calls Kennesaw, Georgia, home and the 25-year-old Omak-based entrepreneur Jag Bains is the first Sikh Punjabi houseguest are the remaining two contestants.

Hisam Goueli Job

Hisam Goueli is a psychiatrist and performer in Washington. He studied at the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN / HOSPITAL AND CLINICS.

Hisam completed his residency at the University Hosp Of Cleveland. He currently practices at Northwest Hospital and is affiliated with UW Medical Center – Northwest. Vitals reported that he has 19 years of experience. His specialties include Psychiatry, Family Medicine. Hisam is affiliated with Northwest Hospital & Medical Center. He speaks Spanish and French.

In 2017, Hisam ran for a city council position. When he moved to Seattle in 2012, he joined a psychiatry program at the University of Washington’s Northwest Hospital and Medical Center. The average length of stay for patients has tripled during Hisam’s tenure at the hospital, from 10 to 14 days when he first started to 40 days at present. He claimed to treat 27 patients each day, 20 of whom are frequently homeless—many of whom have gone bankrupt due to medical debt.

Hisam stated that he was running for a position 8 seat on the city council in order to alter the laws and “get the things my patient needs.” “I thought we could do better,” Hisam told PubliCola. “Politics was not necessarily something I dreamed of doing, but it became clear that health care was just not represented in policymaking decisions, and that was really a detriment to people.”

Hisam never ran for elected office before, and he had raised much less money ($31,000) than frontrunners Jon Grant ($173,000), Teresa Mosqueda ($187,000), and Sara Nelson ($124,000). But he said he thinks he’s uniquely experienced in developing rapport and educating diverse people from all levels of income or status—“all of the skills you need to be an effective politician.”

Hisam said if he could, he would want to chair the Human Services and Public Health Committee. He wants to earmark $25 million into Federally Qualified Health Centers, a safety net program that provides comprehensive primary and preventive health care regardless of residency. (Those health centers would be federally funded even if Obamacare were to be repealed.) He criticized the city for its spending, such as more than $20 million a year on police overtime, but didn’t specify where the $25 million would come from.

“The one thing about Seattle which is striking—there’s really no accountability on where the money goes,” Goueli said, adding that residents are feeling “property levy fatigue” over the city’s tax increases. “There’s tremendous amounts of waste. I think we have to take a really critical look at where we’re spending that money and what are the results of that money.”

Hisam, in his spare time, performs improv, burlesque, and scripted or musical theater. At the time, he said many of his friends from arts communities were moving out of Seattle because they could no longer afford it.
