Meet Jeremy Brown, The Chicago Man Shot Dead In The Restaurant Shooting
Chicago man Jeremy Brown was shot dead in the 11600 block of South Halsted Street shortly after 11 o’clock. Carlishia Hood, another Chicago-based woman had an altercation at a restaurant with Jeremy as the video that went public shows.
Carlisha’s son, 14, remained in the car so she could make that brief run, and she was in line at the Maxwell Street Express in Chicago. Jeremy and his girlfriend entered the restaurant while she was waiting in line, and an argument broke out between Carlishia and Jeremy.
Since neither party knew the other, the disagreement turned physical, and Jeremy is shown on film striking Ms. Hood in the head multiple times. Brown’s nearby girlfriend laughed and supported her other half, which encouraged Carlishia to text her son to come inside with the handgun she is authorized to carry.
When the teenager shot Jeremy in the back, of the restaurant, the victim fled. Jeremy was shot in the back once more after Carlishia yelled at her son allegedly “to pursue the victim and kill him.”
The suspects pulled up to the crime site in a Lincoln Nautilus in the video of the incident’s nighttime scene. Carlishia exited the vehicle and went inside Maxwell Street Food Express while wearing a pink outfit. Additionally, a white hoodie and shorts were seen on Carlishia Hood’s son in the surveillance film.
Carlishia and her kid had never been arrested before. A separate video shows Jeremy Brown hitting Carlishia before the shots were fired.
According to reports, Carlishia’s son pointed the weapon at the victim and opened fire, forcing Jeremy to escape the scene. Jeremy was allegedly followed and shot by Carlishia’s son.
Jeremy was identified at the scene as having died from two gunshot wounds. Carlishia reportedly attempted to grab the gun out of her son’s hand after the initial shooting, but he allegedly pushed her away and continued to grasp onto the firearm.
Is Jeremy Brown Shooter Facing Murder Charges?
Initially, Jeremy Brown’s “shooter” Carlishia Hood, and her 14-year-old handed themselves over to the local authorities on 21 June 2023. They were initially charged with murder. A single felony count of aiding a minor’s delinquency was brought against the mother. Due to his young age, her son, who has not been named, will soon appear in juvenile court.
However, NBC Chicago reported that prosecutors said that murder charges against Carlishia and her 14-year-old son have been dropped. According to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office, it reviewed the evidence in the case against Carlishia Hood and her son, 14, and “in light of emerging evidence” sought to drop all charges.
“Based upon the facts, evidence, and the law we are unable to meet our burden of proof in the prosecution of these cases,” a statement from the office read.
