Meet John Fries, Trudy Busch Valentine’s Husband
John Fries/John William Fries Jr. is the new love of Trudy Busch who she met after losing her husband John Dee Valentine in 2002 because of cancer. Trudy and John Valentine shared six children. She lost her son Matthew on 18 August 2020 at the age of 36 from a driving accident.
Matthew had five younger siblings — Blake Randolph Valentine, Captain August Busch Valentine USMC, and wife Captain Candace Ruocco Valentine USMC, Christina Valentine Cammon and husband Jeff Cammon, John Dee Valentine Jr., and Stephen Peter Valentine.

John Fries. is the son of John William Fries M.D. and Clara Marie Louise Ruester.
His father, who was born to Dr. Arthur and Anna Clyde Fries, grew up in South St. Louis and graduated from Roosevelt High School at age 16. He was a member of the Eagle Scouts of America. He completed his undergraduate education in six semesters, attending Washington University in St. Louis and Miami University of Ohio.
John Fries Sr. joined the Navy’s V-12 program, and in 1948 received his medical degree from Louisiana State University, New Orleans, and was commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy. Dr. Fries served as a medical officer on several destroyers in the Pacific theater during the Korean War. His second tour of duty was at the US Naval Medical Hospital in Bethesda, MD, where he was assistant chief of radiology.
After his naval duty, Dr. Fries returned to St. Louis and served as assistant chief of radiology at the John Cochran VA Hospital. He became a fellow of the American Board of Radiology in 1953 and joined St. Anthony’s Medical Center as chief of radiology in 1956. He retired from St. Anthony’s Medical Center in 1988. In addition to his medical practice, he was a clinical professor of radiology at St. Louis University School of Medicine from 1986 until recent years.
John Sr. died on 2 February 2014. Meanwhile, his ex-wife Clara born on 12 March 1926 died on 31 January 1998 at the age of 71 in St. Louis, Missouri. After his divorce, he married Marilyn and stayed together for 44 years until his death.
