Meet Kai Wayans, Marlon Wayans Trans Son
Marlon Wayans disclosed his son’s gender identity. As the parent of a trans son, the actor and producer is now speaking out about his own “transition.” The White Chicks actor said that his oldest child had changed their name and pronouns in an interview that aired on The Breakfast Club on November 10, 2023. The comedian stated, “I have a daughter that transitioned into a son,” adding that his child is now known as Kai. “My daughter Amai is now Kai.”
Marlon first acknowledged that he had a hard time accepting his son’s change. He will, however, be concentrating on Kai as well as the parenting lessons he’s discovered in an upcoming comedy special that he hopes to call Rainbow Child.
“I talk about the transition, not their transition, but my transition as a parent going from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance,” Marlon said. “And I think there’s a lot of parents out there that need to have that message, and I know I’m dealing with it. It was a very painful situation for me.”
The White Chicks actor continued by calling Kai “brilliant,” although he acknowledged that he’s “still working” on using his son’s proper pronouns. “They know I love them, they see me trying. They’re like: ‘I’m happy,’” Marlon said. “But I gotta respect their wishes.”
Marlon’s former partner, Angela Zackery, is the mother of his boys, Kai and Shawn. From 1992 to 2013, the two had a committed relationship, however, they never got married.
Kai came out as non-binary in 2019 and has undergone a transgender change.
On National Son Day 2022, Marlon posted on his IG, “Happy #nationalsonday Shawn and Kai. I can’t believe y’all actually smiled like this for class pictures…The fuck?! I told you it would come back to haunt y’all asses.”
Likewise, on Kai’s birthday in May 2023, Marlon wished his son, “Happiest bday my baby… daddy loves you to the moon and back. I’ve always asked people to love me unconditionally, thank you for teaching me what that really means. Be you! Your best you! You’re the gift and I’m wrapping paper… love love love you for life. Excuse my ignorance, chalk it up to growth. Love you so much, and thank you for making me a man. So proud. 🌈.”
Kai’s brother Shawn Wayans 21 in February 2023. Shawn maintains a certain level of privacy and distances himself from the spotlight. On the other hand, he and his cousin broadcast live on Twitch under the username marlonandshawn. Their most recent broadcast was posted two months ago, and the duo has not been active recently.
