Netflix’s new show Twentysomethings: Austin arrived in 2021 and it’s all about a group of young people living in the same house, some seeking love while others escaping their parents’ houses. But among them, Keauno Perez has a different motivation. He was looking for a place where he can be his “authentic self,” and explore his queer identity.

Keauno Perez joined the Twentysomethings: Austin house located in Austin, Texas for its inaugural season, to find himself. “I’m coming to Austin because Austin is different. I’m able to be my authentic self,” he shared.
Promoting his appearance on the show, Keauno took it to his IG on November 16, 2021, with a long paragraph a part of which wrote, “I don’t think most people have a trailer for their coming out but if you know me, then you shouldn’t be surprised (Keke is always extra).”
Also, a day before Twentysomethings: Austin hit the screen, Keauno promoted the show, writing, “Y’ALL! TOMORROW!? See me take the first steps at the start of my journey as living my authentic self. I might (poop emoji)my pants!”

Keauno was 25 when he first came out as gay. He shared that he struggled to accept himself his whole life due to his conservative surroundings and Catholic upbringing.
And by “conservative surroundings,” he referred to the state of Arkansas. Thus, he decided on moving to the very LGBTQ+-friendly community in Austin, and also hoped to find his “gay sensei.”
Keauno Perez Job
Keauno Perez was working as the coordinator for residence education at the University of Arkansas before he joined Twentysomethings: Austin in late 2021. Reportedly, he joined the university as the coordinator of greek housing in August 2017 and was promoted to his latter job in July 2018.
So, why leave such a prestigious college for a show? Well, there’s Keauno’s determination to find himself, but the main reason was that the university didn’t allow temporary leave
Before joining the University of Arkansas, Keauno was working as a graduate assistant of student publications at his alma mater Tarleton State University. Also, he took on the jobs of “graduate assistant at resident living and learning, IT help desk student technician, office assistant, and staff writer J-TAC” doing his time there.
Back in Jan 2013, Keauno also worked as an entertainment editor for the Texan News Service in Stephenville, TX. He then quit the job 6 months later and again joined in as an associate producer in May 2015, working there until Dec 2016.
His first recorded job ever was as a radio D.J. for 100.7 FM The Planet. He worked there from September 2013 to April 2013.
As for his education, Keauno got his bachelor’s and master’s degree in communication from Tarleton State University consecutively from 2011 – 2015 — 2016 – 2017.
