Love Island USA season five premiered on July 18, 2023, and it saw a cast of 12 singles including Leonardo Dionicio searching for love whilst also aiming for that $100,000 cash prize.

For those new to the show, Love Island is set in Fiji where a group of contestants, known as “Islanders,” live in a villa under constant video surveillance. To stay in the villa, Islanders must be in a romantic relationship with another contestant. They couple up based on first impressions but later have to “re-couple” during special ceremonies, deciding whether to stay with their current partner or switch. While in the villa, Islanders have phones to communicate with each other via text and receive updates on challenges, dumpings, and re-couplings.
The show features various games and challenges to test physical and mental abilities, with winners receiving special prizes like a night at the Hideaway or a date. Islanders can be eliminated for remaining single after a re-coupling or through public votes on the Love Island app. In the final week, the public votes to decide the winning couple, who receive two envelopes – one with $100,000 and the other empty. The partner with the money envelope can choose to share it or keep it, testing trust and commitment.
