Mason’s parents were divorced. Robert was married to his wife Cheryl Hereford. Born on 13 February 1956, Robert died on February 25, 2021.
Moreover, Mason is the grandson of Dr. Frank Loucks Hereford Jr., the president of the University of Virginia. He was a nuclear physicist who served as the president from 1974 to 1985.
Dr. Frank was a 1943 graduate of the University of Virginia, where he also received a doctorate in physics in 1947. He studied under physicist Jesse W. Beams, who was actively involved with the Manhattan Project, the government’s wartime project to build an atomic bomb.
Dr. Frank was married to Ann Lane Hereford whom he married in 1948 but died in 1997. He died on 21 September 2004 at the age of 81.
Mason is one of the four children born to her parents. He has two brothers William Hereford, a photographer represented by EH Management, and a film editor/director brother Saint Hereford, and a sister named Molly Hereford. His restaurant Molly’s Rise and Shine was named after his sister.
