Meet Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner Family Members
Ahmad “Sause” Gardner was born to his parents in Detroit, Michigan. However, his mother raised him and his two elder siblings like a single mother. So, all the effort that he was putting to establish a career in sports, was to help his mother retire. In March 2022, the American Athletic Conference posted a picture of Ahmad talking about retiring his mother.
He said, “She’ll always be like, ‘Nah, I’m gonna go to work.’ It just felt great to be like ‘no, you don’t have to anymore’. That was just a blessing because I always told her growing up, ‘you ain’t gonna have to work anymore’.
Ahmad was the No. 4 pick of the Jets and No. 5 of the Giants in NFL Draft 2022.
“I feel like I’m the chosen one,” he said, after an NFL charity event, of overcoming adversity as a kid in Detroit and player at Cincinnati. “I feel like I’m the best in the draft. There’s no doubt about it. There’s no way I can be a bust. That shouldn’t even be an option.”
He played as a cornerback and surpassed the baseline requirements for athleticism.
The Detroit, Michigan native plays with contagious enthusiasm and is always hyper-aware of his surroundings. He has the ability to alter initiative on the fly, and he has the ability to position himself advantageously against 2-on-1 opportunities for the offense. The Cincinnati CB is incredibly quick to read and react to passes. His game-winning pick-six versus ECU in 2019 is just one example of his natural instincts in action.

Meet Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner Mother, Alisa Gardner
Alisa Gardner was born in December 1974, so she is 47 years old. When Ahmad was young, he asked his mom at the beginning of a year to get him a Playstation months later at Christmas. She grimaced, knowing how tight money was. “But then when Christmas rolled around, you’d see it right there in that big ol’ box,” Gardner said. “She always made the impossible possible”.
Alisa worked multiple jobs on auto plant assembly lines — grueling labor that recently injured her shoulder.
And it was Alisa who witnessed her son’s ability on the field for the first time. She remembers how he held firm on his career aspirations. When asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, “his answer never changed,” Alisa said in an interview. He wanted to be a football player.
Cincinnati’s coaches made their interest apparent through each step, even visiting Gardner’s mom at work.
In December 2020, Ahmad’s mom shared how sentimental she has felt lately. Her three children are adults, and she said she has been “doing a lot of crying this year”. During Ahmad’s childhood, she sometimes worked overnight shifts — 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. — in assembly at an automotive seating manufacturing factory. As a single mom, she made it work, getting her kids to school despite little sleep. Allante, Ahmad’s older brother called her “Superwoman”.
As the family prepared to travel to Texas for the game, she became upset as she considered her son’s route to this point. As a child, she could see he was gifted, and now he’s one of the finest players in the country, with a promising NFL future and a chance to contend for a national championship.
Alisa recognized the impossibility of it all. But she also remembered her self-assured son and his dream, which kept manifesting in front of their eyes.
“He knew,” she said, “exactly what he wanted”.
In August 2016, Ahmad posted on his Twitter, “Imma keep working and grinding til my mom doesn’t anymore“.
Alisa knows that her son is known to the world as “Sauce” and even appeared on NFL Draft 2022 with diamond chains. But Alisa calls her youngest child by his given name. She shared that he’s the quietest of her three kids.
Allante also added, that his brother is “more of a silent killer”.

They took into account the school’s academic programs as well as the ties formed with each member of staff.
