Almost a year ago, Discovery Plus released the startling series Hillsong: A Megachurch Exposed, and its viewers of course are still wondering about a lot of things. The world thus got to know all about the star-studded Australian church once known for luring big names such as Justin and Hailey Bieber. The series focused on the scandal and controversy involving many of its male members who had been exercising a “gross” manhandling of power. Of course, Jason Mays was one of them. A staff administrator, volunteer singer, and son of the human resources head at the church, he was exposed to sexually assaulting Anna Crenshaw. After the assault, Anna later learned that Jason was married, to Ashley Mays, who is just our topic for this writing!

Hillsong’s Jason Mays’s wife, Ashley Mays, had even become Anna’s volunteer group leader after the assault after the latter confronted him publicly.

Hillsong Church did not take any action against Jason for months following Anna’s report and Jason also denied the incident initially. But eventually when it was confirmed he was placed on leave, but still a paid one.

During that time, Ashley had just had their first baby and yet she led Anna’s volunteer group. While Jason insisted at the time that Anna was intentionally trying to get in between him and his family.

In January 2020, Jason pleaded guilty to “indecent assault”. He was then given two years probation and mandatory counseling. He was also banned from any ministry for 12 months. Anna, meanwhile, left Hillsong College and church. The church’s general counsel eventually dismissed the case responding that their pastoral team will continue to care for Anna as they have been while also maintaining their obligation to care for Jason, his wife, and his family as a church. “Jason’s actions have resulted in pain not only for Anna but also his wife Ashley, not to mention other family members”, he wrote as his final say.

Fast forward to today, Jason and Ashley still were together, married, and even content.

The two got married on 26 September 2013. Four years later, on their anniversary, Jason was seen raving about how Ashley was his first and only girlfriend, her best friend in the world, and whatnot.

Then, last year on Valentine’s Day, Jason again gushed about how his girl had been a pillar of strength when the past “CRAZY” couple of years. He went on to write on social media that he pinches himself to think they have been together for a decade now.

He refers to her with endearments including “My Queen, “My Lover”, “My Sun”, “My Moon”, My Stars, “My Little Pony” and many others.

So like that, Jason has always been big on words. He also has time and again appreciated his wife for inspiring him and always being a great mother to their kids.

Today, Ashley and her husband share two daughters, Charlie Dawn Mays and Holland Lively Mays. The former is the eldest and she turned 4 on 15 August 2022. While baby Holland just turned one year old on 3 May 2022.
