His obituary read that he lived to be 94 and had a happy and fruitful life. He was at the time, also survived by his dear wife Joan Sanford Lewis.
We also know a few details about Hunter’s family. His father passed away from ALS in 2017. He was none other than the same Peter Doohan, a popular Australian, who left his mark on and off the tennis court. Upon his passing, Tennis Australia issued a statement describing how the lost star won the South Australian Open singles title and reached No. 15 in doubles, winning five titles during his distinguished career. They say he was a down-to-earth and a gentleman. He is survived by his mother, Thelma, sons, John and Hunter, and his sisters Cathie and Margaret.
