Meet Meredith Morris, Johnny Gaudreau Wife
Meredith Gaudreau was the wife of the late Johnny Gaudreau. While living in New Jersey during the NHL offseason, Johnny met Meredith.
In February 2020, the couple debuted on social media. At the Avalon Jetty in New Jersey the following September, Johnny proposed. “Forever and ever. We’re getting married!!! I love you so much, John 🤍,” Meredith wrote via an IG post. Johnny found it extremely difficult to spend his bachelor party away from Meredith just before the couple’s wedding.
“One of my favorite memories [was] John sneaking out of his own bachelor party and showing up to my parents’ house to be with Meredith,” in August 2024, Lily Morris, Meredith’s sister, posted something on Instagram Stories. “A small glimpse into how much he loves my sister.” Meredith shared her sister’s letter, written in memory of Johnny, on social media, revealing that Johnny “did this three different times” at the celebration.
In September 2022, Johnny and Meredith welcomed their daughter Noa Harper on 30 September. Then, they welcomed their son Johnny Edward on 22 February 2024. After a month, Meredith and Noa took baby Johnny to his first Blue Jackets game.
Sadly, Johnny passed away in August 2024 in an accident and was survived by his beautiful wife and two kids along with other family members. With a broken heart, Meredith posted, “Thank you for the best years of my life. Despite losing you, I am still the luckiest girl in the world to have been yours. I love you so so much. You were perfect. Some days it felt too good to be true. I love every single thing about you. You are my forever and I can’t wait to be with you again. I love you so much forever and ever.”
Following their untimely deaths in a bike accident, Johnny Gaudreau and Meredith’s brother-in-law Matthew Gaudreau recently received a heartfelt tribute from Meredith Gaudreau. She shared several images on Instagram that showed the close relationship the brothers had and the lovely times spent with the NHL player.
“John and Matty. U don’t hear one name without the other. Always side by side. Even in large group settings, u can find them hip to hip. John’s younger brother- but he looked up to Matty and relied on him for everythinggg. And Matty was always there. Absolute best friends and biggest fans of each other despite polar opposite personalities. Everyone wanted to be around them, including me,” she wrote on Saturday, August 31.
“I would sit back and watch John genuinely love his time with his brother. Matty, thank you for loving our babies like your own and for being such an amazing uncle and godfather. I can’t wait to return the honor when I become Tripp’s aunt. I don’t think John could live a day without you so I’m comforted knowing you are of course together in heaven. Please continue to take care of John like you always have. I got Madeline and Tripp 🤍 We love you very much”
Most recently after the post, Meredith shared a carousel of pictures from their wedding day and honeymoon. In the caption she wrote, “I never post this much but John deserves it. 3 years ago today I became yours forever. One of the best days of my life, including the night we got engaged and the days we brought our babies into the world. The day I met you I remember saying to myself, omg I’m going to marry him. And every day after that kept getting better and better. I love you forever John and I am so proud to be your wife.”
On Thursday, August 29, while riding their bikes in New Jersey, Johnny, a hockey player for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and Matthew were struck by an intoxicated driver. Johnny passed away. Their ages were, respectively, 31 and 29.
