Micah Meggs Cause Of Death
On May 6th, 2023, reality TV star Olivia Plath announced through her social media that she suffered the terrible loss of her brother, Micah Meggs.
Micah Meggs, who was riding an electric bicycle in the right southbound lane on U.S. 220 in Franklin County on the night of May 4, collided with a Honda Accord, which was traveling south in the right lane of the same road.
The crash, which occurred less than a mile north of Virginia 619 in Franklin County and shortly after 10 pm, resulted in the death of Micah at the accident spot. However, the Honda’s driver was not injured–and the incident is still under investigation according to the Virginia State Police.
Olivia announced that she was going to take a break from social media to mourn the loss of her youngest brother. Taking to the Instagram story, she wrote, “Hey guys, I’m jumping off social media for a bit. Don’t worry if you don’t see me around – I’m taking some space/time. I lost a younger brother last night to an unexpected accident and I need some clarity and space for grieving…”
Olivia also thanked her social media followers for allowing her space and time to grieve.

Who Are Micah Meggs Parents?
Micah had a large family. The reason: Like the Plaths, the Meggs also did not practice any form of birth control because they thought they should allow God to decide how many kids they should have.
Micah’s parents are Don and Karen Meggs. As of 2023, Don’s age was 59 whereas Karen was only 54.
Since the Meggs family was so big, it was important for the parents to raise their kids, especially the older Olivia, to manage the monthly grocery budget and plan meals.
The Meggs reside on a few acres of farmland. They have their own homestead and raise chickens and cows there. Parents Don and Karen thought it was important to teach their children the value of hard work as well as where their food comes from.
Don works as a software developer in Roanoke, Virginia. Previously, Don worked for a Fortune 500 company in Delaware. Karen is a housewife. Reportedly, the couple moved from Delaware to rural Virginia as their family expanded.
Micah has a total of 8 siblings excluding Olivia Plath. Their names are Elijah Meggs, Nate Meggs, Maura Meggs, Carris Meggs, Joshua Meggs, Lydia Grace, and Sophia Roberts. Talking about their jobs, Elijah is a U.S. Army veteran; Joshua works as a Firefighter/Paramedic at Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Department and Martinsville Fire & EMS; and Sophia is an operation supervisor at UPS.
Having such a big family also meant there was always a shortage of space; so, they had to share rooms and personal possessions. However, most of them took it as a good thing as it taught them how to solve problems and give others grace. Christian beliefs and “Plathvillesque” values were strongly rooted in the Meggs from an early age–and the church they attended reflected that as well.
In August 2022, Micah’s brother, Nathan, was sentenced to Driving Under the Influence in Florida. He was arrested in Hillsborough County, Florida on March 11 after he was found “unconscious in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, while the vehicle was turned on, at the gas pumps of a gas station.” 19-year-old Nathan “had vomited on himself, the odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his mouth, he was slurring his words, and he presented a noticeable sway,” as per the police report.
