Kim Varhola and Michael K Lee have already spent over 15 years as a married couple, and still, the fire is burning strong.
“My wife is Rock Star. Well, more specifically… a Musical Star. One year as a professor and she’s already been invited to be a Speaker at the renowned Musical Theatre Educators’ Alliance conference in San Diego,” Michael boasted his wife’s achievement on his FB. “Work it out, Professor Varhola !!! (Congratulations to the other panelists and speakers at the event. Thank you for your work for our community!)”
As for their kids, Kim and Michael share two children named Jesse and Jude. They welcomed Jesse in January 2009, and Jude in November 2011.
The last we saw Michael, he was busy filming XO, Kitty as Professor Lee. Prior to this, the actor graced Vanishing (2021) as Henry’s Father, A Korean Odyssey (2018) as Jonathan, and Law & Order (2016) as Craig.
Also, he’s starred in numerous productions in Seoul, including Jesus Christ Superstar (Jesus), Miss Saigon (Chris), Queen of the Desert (Tick), Notre Dame de Paris (Gringoire), Amour (Dusoleil), and Gone with the Wind (Ashley) and many more.
Trivia: Kim and Michael walked the red carpet together for the first time at the 2019 Daegu International Musical Festival Awards.

So far, she’s worked as a “Marketing Manager, Events and Partnerships” at Center Theatre Group from Mar 2008 to Nov 2012, as “Corporate/Foundations Manager” at Village Theatre from May 2007 to Feb 2008, and in Events at Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS from 2004 to 2007.
Also, like her husband, she’s dabbled in acting. As a performer, she’s graced the theater stages of Children and Art, Pacific Overtures, Flower Drum Song, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Anything Goes, and Rent.
On top of that, she was Michael’s acting coach as well! “I have an acting coach named Kim Varhola,” the XO, Kitty star explained. “She studied theater at Northwestern University, and she keeps me honest, grounded, and real on stage. I trust her implicitly.”
Michael K. Lee is a first-generation Korean-American theater actor and singer who started his acting career as a part of a sketch comedy, a cappella group called The Fleet Street Singers during college. However, to follow in the footsteps of his father, Michael was studying to become a psychiatrist when he booked his first professional acting job.
After landing his first professional role, Michael then tried out for and got after three rounds of auditions for the blockbuster Broadway musical “Miss Saigon,” the original run of which earned 11 Tony Awards nominations and took home three.
“My first role was of the Vietnamese Commissar Thuy,” Michae recalled. “It was hugely exciting for me to be part of that entertainment juggernaut. The fact that it was my first job out of school is something I don’t take for granted. It was kind of like trial by fire — sent right to the major leagues without too much preparation.”

Kim Varhola loves her family; especially her parents to the moon. Her parents have even graced her socials and were good grandparents to her kids.
Her mother, Cindy Varhola is a Seoul National University High School and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies graduate. Sadly, we don’t know anything about her father.
Also, Kim was close to her grandmother Helen M. Varhola who passed away on March 16, 2021. She was 98 years old at the time when she joined her late husband Andrew in heaven.
Helen was a Pittsburgh native who moved to the Harrisburg area in the 1950s. As a young mother, Helen dedicated her life to the work of her sons, accompanying them throughout their childhood years in the world of professional music entertainment. She later worked for the PA Department of Labor and Industry, and after 30 years of service, she retired to Carlisle to be closer to her family.
Guess, music runs in Kim’s blood.
