Dagmara Malczewska and Michael Smith tied the knot on January 5, 2019. And now, 2 days before their 4th wedding anniversary, Michael has emerged as a World champion beating Michael van Gerwen in the final. What an anniversary gift!
Proud of her husband, Dagmara took to her FB to write, “WORLD CHAMPION. Not only st. Helens number 1 but World number 1. 1st st. Helens PDC World Champion. The only Youth and Senior World Champion. Pain in the backside at times (definitely World Champion in winding me up) but you work so so hard for everything what you achieved. Myself and boys are extremely proud of you.”
Also, thanks to his victory, Dagmara got some screen time as Michael ran to hug her as soon as he won the championship.
Prior to his finals, Michael wanted Dagmara to stay home because, in addition to the already immense pressure of having his wife’s eyes on him, he felt might just crumble. However, Dagmara wasn’t missing out on one of the most important nights of his life.
“They’ll be here tomorrow. She’s already said she’s coming, I said she’s not allowed, and then she swore at me and said ‘I’m coming’,” Michael later said. On the contrary, he also added, that watching their faces and knowing that they’ll be even “brighter” if he brings home the trophy will push him to succeed. And he was right! Dagmara and their children indeed rejoiced as he hit that final dart.

Dagmara Malczewska and Michael Smith share two sons — Michael Jr and Kasper.
Their oldest, Michael Jr was born on March 27, 2014. He’s already old enough to play competitive darts at local levels. Infact, he won his first tournament at St Helen’s Darts Academy without any practice. Also, Michael Jr is interested in soccer. The last we checked (in October 2022), he played his first home league match and won 2-0.
Michael Jr was in grade 4 then.
As for Kasper, he just joined Broad Oak Primary School, at the age of 5.

Overall, it’s 16 PDC ranking events and two World Series titles to his name.
As for the cash winning, he’s collected over £1.5 million so far — £500,000 of which comes just from his final win over Van Gerwen in 2023. He’s spent most of his winning money to buy properties, one of which was also converted into a farm.
Taking about how vital is it for him to keep winning, he said, “If I miss mortgages, we’re out on the streets. We are homeless. I know it adds added pressure, but it’s keeping me focused. I have to keep ready. It has been showing what I have been working on for the last 12 months has worked.”
Fun Fact: Michael landed his maiden TV nine-darter during the 2020 Premier League in Dublin against Daryl Gurney.
