Michael “Mike” Mora, husband of Kelis has died. The cause of Mora’s death was reportedly battling stage 4 stomach cancer. His death came months after he shared his diagnosis on social media. In September 2021, Mike had shared on his Instagram that he thought he had a stomach ulcer before being diagnosed with cancer in 2020.

A representative of Kelis confirmed Mike’s death to Entertainment Tonight. They said, “Sadly, it’s true that Mike has passed away. We would ask all to respect Kelis and her family’s privacy as of right now.”
After experiencing “the worst pain” in his stomach, with loss of appetite and back pain, Mike said doctors told him he had stage 4 stomach cancer, which had also begun to spread to the lymph nodes in his back.
Mike claimed that he began to feel “the worst pain” in his stomach, which then spread to other regions of his body. He wrote further, “Loss of appetite. Pain in my back also started to creep in…finally decided to do something about it. It was a bit late. But just in time.”
He added further, “I thought the whole time that I just had an ulcer. With no idea what was about to come my way. Here I was, in a hospital bed, during the middle of the pandemic. All alone.”
Mike also claimed that he didn’t share the diagnosis for pity or attention but to help those that might be experiencing something like this.
Actor Evan Ross announced news of Mike’s death on Instagram. He shared a black and white image of the photographer’s face. “We lost a brother Yesterday. We will truly miss you, Mike. Thinking of some of the great times we all spent together. You and @naztokio recording me at @dallasaustins studio in Atlanta.”
