Meet Morgan Doughty, Paul Murdaugh’s Girlfriend On Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal
Netflix’s true-crime docuseries Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal recalls the boat accident that took place shortly after 2 a.m. on February 24, 2019, whilst also unraveling the prominent Murdaugh family’s legacy. On that tragic night, Alex Murdaugh’s late son, Paul Murdaugh, who was intoxicated, crashed his family boat into a South Carolina bridge, and one of the passengers Mallory Beach was ejected from the boat, and investigators recovered her cold body a week later.
According to Paul’s longtime girlfriend, Morgan Doughty (who was also one of the passengers on the boat), the Murdaughs used their influence to cover up the drunk-driving incident. Unfortunately, the matter couldn’t proceed further legally as Paul and his mother, Maggie Murdaugh, were murdered on June 7, 2021, while awaiting trial.
But Morgan did fight for herself and filed a personal injury lawsuit against members of the Murdaugh family, including Paul and Maggie’s estates. As per court documents, Morgan suffered severe hand injuries resulting in “permanent scarring and disfigurement.” Also, she alleged that Maggie spoke to her son shortly before the boat crash and “failed to stop” him from driving.
The case was ongoing the last we checked.
Filing a case against the prominent Murdaugh family indeed took courage; especially for Morgan as she has once been chastised for calling 911 when Paul crashed his truck while intoxicated. In fact, she was often physically, verbally, and emotionally abused by Paul who she started dating when they were high school juniors.
“When it was good, it was really good. But when it was bad, it was really bad,” Doughty shared in the docuseries detailing instances of Paul kicking, punching, and grabbing her by the throat.
Where Is Morgan Doughty Today?
Today, as of March 2023, Morgan Doughty is still fighting a creditor’s claim for $10 million against the estate of Paul and Maggie. But whilst she’s forced to recall the incident over and over in the court, the survivor is also trying her best to move on.
Infact, she’s now in a relationship with her boyfriend of over three years.
Sadly, we don’t know much about her boyfriend, Batten Bostick except that he celebrates his birthday on June 30 and often graces Morgan’s IG.

Morgan Doughty Age
Morgan Doughty was 23 years of age in 2023.
She was the same age as her best friend Mallory Beach when she took her last breath.
A month after the incident, Morgan took to her IG to pay a tribute to Mallory and wrote, “I have the most beautiful guardian angel. Mallory, you are one of my best friends. You brought so much light and laughter into my life. I lost my way for quite some time but you brought the Lord back into my life, and for that, I am forever grateful.”
Who Are Morgan Doughty Parents?
Morgan Doughty was born to her parents, Diane and Bill Doughty, a prison nurse and a landscaper designer, respectively. They are Long Island, New York natives who relocated to Low Country, South Carolina, around the 2010s.
According to them, Paul was always there for Morgan, whether it be her birthday, valentine’s day, or prom, he showed up with gifts. They even labeled him to be a “wonderful young man.” Instead, Bill blamed Paul’s parents who looked the other way when Morgan informed them about their son’s drinking habit.“His family just looked the other way and thought it was funny, That should’ve put such a blemish on [them]. They didn’t want to choose the option and say, ‘Let me send him to rehab,’” Bill said in the docuseries.
The last we checked, Diane and Bill were married, happy, and healthy. Also, they were on good terms with their three girls.
As for Morgan’s siblings, she has two sisters named Megan Doughty Malphrus and Allie Doughty.
Her sister, Megan lived in Coosawhatchie, South Carolina with her husband Matt Malphrus, an American Paving Design employee.

Morgan Doughty is a Dental Hygienist. She reportedly earned around $50 per hour.
