Who Are Nicholas Godejohn Parents?
The murder case involving Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Nicholas “Nick” Godejohn is still making news. The former couple planned Gypsy’s mother Dee Dee’s murder in 2015; Gypsy had suffered emotional and physical abuse from her mother Dee Dee her whole life.
Before they met in person, Gypsy and Nicholas reportedly spoke online for two years after Gypsy initially connected with him on a Christian dating service. The Springfield News-Leader reports that text messages exchanged in court in 2018 revealed the turbulent relationship the two had before Dee Dee’s passing. They had a lengthy conversation about beginning a new life together, which included getting married and having children.
According to Buzzfeed News, they had already decided on names for their offspring. Eventually, in 2015, Gypsy and Godejohn went on their first date in person to the movies. In June of that year, Godejohn came from Wisconsin to Missouri to assassinate Dee Dee. This was their second face-to-face meeting.
Nicholas killed Dee Dee in her house on June 9, 2015. In Mommy Dead and Dearest, Gypsy revealed that on the evening of the murder, she and Dee Dee had manicures, and Gypsy dressed Dee Dee with the assurance that she would be “a good girl.” Godejohn entered the house after Dee Dee went to sleep, Gypsy remembered, and Gypsy hid in a toilet while Godejohn fatally stabbed Dee Dee.
Gypsy stated to the court in 2018 that she “started having doubt [and] second thoughts” two weeks prior to her mother’s murder. However, following a fight between the two a few days later, Gypsy declared Dee Dee had to go and instructed Godejohn to come from Wisconsin to Missouri in order to murder her, as reported by The Springfield News-Leader.
Gypsy was given a ten-year jail sentence after entering a guilty plea to second-degree murder in July 2016 for her involvement in the death of her mother. In November 2018, Gypsy testified at Nicholas’s trial that she devised the plan to kill her mother because it was the only way she could end her abusive existence, according to The Springfield News-Leader. Although there was no doubt as to whether Nicholas killed Dee Dee, his lawyers contended that Gypsy had used her influence over him to kill her mother and that his charges ought to be dropped to second-degree murder, according to The Springfield News-Leader.
Nicholas was convicted of first-degree murder a few days later in relation to Gypsy’s mother’s death in June 2015. He was also determined to have committed an armed crime.
After that, Gypsy and Nicholas’s relationship swiftly soured after it was discovered by a family member that Gypsy was engaged to someone else in April 2019. Gypsy’s new connection with Godejohn is based on mutual love and respect, according to family friend Fancy Macelli, who described Gypsy’s former relationship with Godejohn as toxic and an act of “desperation” to PEOPLE.
“She’s 27 years old, she deserves to be in love and she deserves to have somebody who cares about her,” Macelli said at the time. “He’s just there for her.”
The couple broke up for a short while before getting back together. But their reunion was only temporary, as in August 2022 That June, Gypsy got married to Ryan Scott Anderson of Saint Charles, Louisiana, according to the Springfield News-Leader.
In July 2019, Nicholas appeared on the Oxygen show Gypsy Rose & Nick: A Love to Kill and conducted a rare interview from behind bars. Godejohn talked about his relationship with Gypsy in an interview footage, referring to it as “the best days of my life.” “From the very beginning, I just knew we were soulmates,” he continued. “Those five days when I was actually with her, physically with her, those five days were the most intense, and magical, and awe-inspiring days I’ve ever had.”
In the interview, Nicholas stated that he thought it was essential to kill Dee Dee in order to guarantee that he and Gypsy could live together. “Somehow I just knew, deep within my heart, some way me and her would end up being together in the end. There’s no other option, we gotta do it,” he said, referring to the murder. “I wanted to make sure her mom was not going to harm her anymore. I made sure of that.”

Meet Stephanie Goldammer, Nicholas Godejohn Mother
Nicholas Godejohn was born to her mother Stephanie Goldammer. He was reportedly living with Stephanie. At the time, Stephanie was married to Charles Goldammer.
The Act’s portrayal of Stephanie’s police interviews was inspired by her actual ones. And they were almost the same as what she said on the police recordings that were played in the Mommy Dead and Dearest HBO program.
“You know, it was weird because when I picked them up from the bus station, I even asked her, ‘How’s your mom doing?’ … I was told she was in a homeless shelter. Her mom kicked her out,” Stephanie said. “So I asked her how her mom was doing. That might have been the first thing I asked her. No big deal, they acted like nothing.”
However, Stephanie became extremely alarmed when detectives revealed the truth about what actually transpired, including the fact that Gypsy and Nick had mailed the murder weapon to her residence.
“Are you serious? Oh, my God… my God,” she repeated. “Just the way the girl acted—I mean, how can you do something to your mother and lose your mother, and just act like that? I’m just trying to wrap my head around it.”
Sadly, Stephanie passed away in June 2021. Paul (Bonnie) Curry, was 52 years old. Her siblings are named Mike (Belinda) Curry, Mark (Sue) Curry, Christine Curry, and Paul Curry.
Meet Charles Goldammer, Nicholas Godejohn Father
Nicholas Godejohn’s father (step) is named Charles Goldammer. For Hulu’s The Act, the interviews for Charles were based on their real police interviews and interviews they did with the press at the time. Based on those conversations, it appears that Nick’s parents were mostly unaware of the circumstances surrounding their son’s relationship with Gypsy.
“All I know is the SWAT team came this morning, took my wife and I out of here—something with my stepson, supposedly he did something in Missouri, which we don’t believe because he wouldn’t hurt a fly,” Charles told ABC 12 at the time.
“There’s nothing wrong with her. She’s okay. She walks and talks and does everything fine,” Charles said of Gypsy in the same interview. “I don’t really know anything about her except [Godejohn] and her were talking to each other online. It’s his girlfriend, and he went down there to get her and brought her back up here. That’s about all I know.”
Charles told the cops that he was completely unaware of the situation as well. “They acted like two normal people. That’s what’s really freaky. How can you do that?” he said in his police interview.
Charles and his late wife Stephanie were happily married for 13 years. He was born in October 1970, which makes him 53 years of age.
