According to Ranin, their relationship began after a chance meeting in New York’s Domino Park. However, Ranin didn’t know that Carl was married at the time. So, when she finally found out, she repeatedly asked him to “go back to (his) wife, go back to (his) family,” but he kept turning up at her apartment.

Ranin Karim comes from a Muslim ethnicity. She is an Egyptian and Palestinian woman, who left her hometown Jaffa, Israel in 2007 and moved to New York City to live the Amerian dream.
