This is what Monica has shared as of his article in November 2023.
Meet RHOSLC Monica Garcia Family
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Monica Garcia has a volatile relationship with her mother Linda. But, Linda is also making an appearance on the show and fans hope that they can patch things up.
Monica and Heather Gay had a conversation about Monica’s “volatile” relationship with her mother prior to the “car kidnapping” episode.
Monica cried as she spoke, thinking back to her childhood: “When I turned 12, my mom, she decided that she wanted to chase her dream so she dropped me off with a family in Pennslyvania and went and lived in New York.” She added, “My dad left me when I was four, and then my mom left me so I have like major, major abandonment issues because of that.”
The reality TV actress mentioned her background once more in episode 6, admitting that she harbored “some resentment” toward her mother.
RHOSLC Monica Garcia Mother
RHOSLC’s Monica Garcia’s mom is called Linda Darnell. In episode 10 of season 4 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Linda extends a “peace offering” by asking her to attend therapy with her. Linda pulls her car up to Monica’s driveway and adds, “I come bearing gifts.”
Monica explained that the car “isn’t a gift,” adding: “I can’t do this anymore. I can’t live with when you get upset or mad that you are just going to come and take my car from me.” In response, the mother of the Bravo star declares that she “won’t do it anymore” and that “I clearly have some skills to learn.”
Linda tells Monica that she would like to go to therapy with her daughter when they are standing in her driveway. “I think it would be so good for us,” Linda tells her daughter.
Linda was eager to “get back on track,” but since the two had previously attended therapy, Monica requested to “think about.” Monica’s mom adds: “When we had dinner, I was serious about therapy. I think it would be so good for us. We need to get back on track. The cycle of dysfunction in our family goes back generations, right? You and I can be the ones to break it.”
The effort is lost on Monica, who retorts, “Mom, you just kidnapped my car from me and you want to talk about dysfunction?”
Monica mentioned that she didn’t think therapy worked the last time she and her mother had gone. As of writing, their relationship doesn’t appear to have been fixed. Monica stated that she and her mother “haven’t really spoken since we wrapped filming” in an interview with Housewives Nightcap at BravoCon.
In this exclusive sneak look from E! News, the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star and her mother Linda square off once more in the Bravo series’ Nov. 14 episode. Following their heated altercation in the October 31 episode, Linda confiscated her daughter’s automobile in reprisal for their ongoing conflict. Their most recent confrontation follows that incident.
After arriving at Monica’s house without warning, Linda declares in the preview, “I come bearing gifts,” to which Bravolebrity retorts, “This is not a gift!” Returning Monica’s SUV is “a peace offering,” Linda clarifies, and Monica sets her foot down.
“I can’t do this anymore,” Monica says. “I can’t live with when you get upset or mad, that you are just going to come and take my car from me.”
“Monica begged me to do this reality show with her. Begged. I didn’t want to do it. She told me all I had to do was cook and speak Portuguese. How did she return the favor? She did me dirty,” in a message published on Oct. 18 on X (formerly known as Twitter), Linda berated her daughter for how she handled her during the concert. “Meanwhile, I would never compete with my only child–unless it’s sports. I’m too smart to try to go up against Monica, she’d chew me up and spit me out.”
Linda went on to refute her daughter’s accusations that she had abandoned her, saying, “I always put her needs above my own, even in her adulthood. I’m not a perfect human but I *am* a devoted mother and Vóvó. God bless us, everyone. #RHOSLC.”
In her recent Tweet, Linda wrote, “Monica had not made an on-time payment in two years. Two years. Not one. The first on-time payment came this year in October 2023. I’m not playing this game anymore. I am being maligned in the worst possible way. #RHOSLC.”

RHOSLC Monica Garcia Spouse
RHOSLC star Monica Garcia revealed on her Bravo bio that she is “divorcing her husband Mike for the second time.” When the Boston native met co-stars Angie Katsanevas and Lisa Barlow for lunch, she brought up the fact that she was going through a divorce.
Monica explained, “About four years into my marriage, I found myself in what one might call an entanglement. That resulted in a divorce and then a wedding because we got divorced and we got remarried. And now we’re getting divorced again.”
Monica and Mike reportedly married in September 2009 in Kaysville, Utah. Monica has been quite explicit about having primary custody of the children on RHOSLC.
Two days after Christmas in December 2013, Monica first filed a divorce from her husband Mike due to their “irreconcilable differences.” A dismissal order and final decree were both filed into the system a short while afterward, in May 2014 and June 2014, respectively. After a judgment was issued in January 2015, the divorce was ultimately annulled.
According to the ruling, the couple only had a daughter, Jaidyn, who is now 13 years old, during their marriage.
Since it is not included in the divorce, Monica’s 17-year-old eldest daughter Bri’s father remains unknown. Although Mike was permitted to visit Jaidyn, Monica was given sole physical custody at the time. Co-parental legal custody was granted to both parents. Monica’s estimated gross monthly income at the time was over $4,500, according to court documents.
After their reconciliation, the pair seems to have remained together for eight years. On June 12, 2023, Monica subsequently filed for divorce a second time. The public has no access to the petition or the other materials. According to the most recent document submitted at the end of August, it appears the estranged couple is moving forward with their divorce this time.
Since a domestic relations injunction was filed, neither party can “harass, intimidate, or disturb the peace of the other party.” They also must not “use the other party’s name, likeness, image, or identification to get credit, open an account for service, or obtain a service.”
It appears the pair resided in a modest house during their marriage, which is now estimated to be worth about $425,000. Although the address of Monica’s current residence is unknown, Mike is the registered owner of the property, according to public records. Mike has been contacted by The U.S. Sun for comment regarding this story.
In the second episode of RHOSLC, Monica revealed a shocking fact about being excommunicated by the Mormon Church while sharing more about her past. Monica confessed to Heather Gay that she “f**ked” her brother-in-law for 18 months when they were out shopping. The creator of Brea Baby continued by claiming she informed her bishop of the affair because she “felt guilty.”
Monica was immediately “shunned from everyone and literally unwelcome everywhere,” describing it as “truly one of the worst experiences of my life.” Monica clarified that she wasn’t sleeping with her husband’s brother; it was her husband’s sister’s husband.
Her brother-in-law did not receive the same treatment and he remained in the church. “Yeah,” Heather affirmed. “They never excommunicate the men.”
