Netflix’s The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist: Meet Robby Toma, Manti Te’o Friend
Robby Toma is a childhood friend of Manti Te’o who is the subject of the two-part Netflix show Untold: The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist. Robby grew up four houses down from him Manti who joined him with the Irish as a slot receiver. Together they played in Punahou High & at Notre Dame.
While they thrived as an athlete together, Robby also supported Manti as much as he can. Speaking on the Netflix show, Robby opened up that Manti was having a hard time adjusting so he never gave thoughts to his long-distance relationship, as long as it was keeping him happy.
Robby knew that Te’o hadn’t seen this girl yet, he also knew that long-distance was not that uncommon, considering he was in one himself. When the “girlfriend” scandal came to light, Manti informed his best friend not to get involved in it.
