Netflix’s The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist: Meet Ronaiah Naya Tuiasosopo, Manti Te’o Catfisher

Naya was known to people when an investigative report by Deadspin proved that she is one behind the whole catfishing drama, someone pretending to be Manti Te’o’s fake dead girlfriend.

Talking, in recent times, about Te’o, she said she was emotionally invested in that relationship. She said she grew feelings and when finally she could not control it anymore, she tried to end things the way she did, by lying.

At present, Naya maintained a distance from the spotlight. Since the controversy faded, she has refrained from giving interviews. Yet, she does wishes that the whole thing with Te’o and Lennay never happened. All this she confessed in the Netflix documentary. Still, the character Lennay did her some good. She explained how it helped her figure out some stuff about herself.

In between, Naya also contacted Te’o to confess and apologize. While Te’o, he ends the Netflix documentary by saying he forgives her.

Speaking of what Naya is up to now (in 2022), almost a decade since causing distress to Manti, she had been calling Carson, California her home. Following the controversy of fake Lennay, Naya decided to focus rather on herself. Because before this, she told Dr. Phil, that she had been confused about her sexuality.

Anyway, Naya seemed to have moved on with her life since. She even found clarity over her sexuality and found passion in Siva Samoa and the Polynesian culture.

Yes. Ronaiah Naya is transgender and she openly identifies as one.

Now, Naya can not get enough of celebrating the likes of pride and “Trans Day of Visibility”. During one of these occasions, she shared that it took her a lot of dark and painful seasons to be able to stand boldly today, with the wind at her back and the warmth of the sun on her skin that she is proud to be in.

Ronaiah Naya Tuiasosopo Job

Ronaiah Naya Tuiasosopo is only a high school graduate (of Paraclete High School) and had been working as an assistant store manager at Lowe’s Home Improvement as of 2022. So far, she had been in this job for a little more than 2 years.

Lowe’s Home Improvement, so you know, is a hardware store committed to helping homeowners, renters and Pros improve their homes and businesses.

Ronaiah Naya Tuiasosopo Family

Ronaiah Naya’s father Titus Tuiasosopo is no more. Often she misses and recalls his memories on social media. Still, she says she chooses to rejoice and celebrate the blessing of having him for 30 years of her life.

Titus seemingly passed away in June of 2022. Because until May of the year was celebrating the anniversary of her “amazing” parents.

Ronaiah is also very much fond of her mother, Cheannie Tali Leota.

On her Facebook, Ronaiah also mentioned a bunch of siblings: sisters Lia Manu Asoau, Seine Eteuati, Pae Tuiasosopo, Tony Paialii, and brothers Taylor Tuiasosopo, Jason Palaita, and Donovan Amituanai.

But then in her brother, Taylor’s “2021 Football Roster” profile, it was stated that he is one of the five children of Titus and Cheannie Tuiasosopo. So, Ronaiah too must have four full siblings only.

Not only Taylor, but their late father also starred at USC from 1990-92.

Apparently,  Ronaiah comes from a family of football players. She too felt the pressure of performing well in it. And for some time she even had good prospects of making it as a football player. However, she left all of that behind. However, she continued to pursue music and lead the church band where her father was a pastor. She also released songs, covers, and originals on a YouTube channel that no longer exists now.
