Taking the first flight of his life, Ryley Tate Wilson reached La-La Land to perform in front of star-studded judges. But nerves didn’t stop him from slaying Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” during the Blind Auditions for The Voice Season 23 and earning that coveted four-chair turn from the Coaches.
“Ryley, my head nearly exploded. That was the best audition we’ve seen here by a long shot,” judge Niall said after hearing the stunning performance.
The judges were even more blown away as Ryley revealed he was only 15. In response, Kelly said, “Wait, wait, wait, I didn’t hear anything after 15. You’re 15 and sounding like that? Oh my god.”
Niall also recalled the moment when he was 15 and auditioning for a show like this. “I was shaking like a leaf,” he said before mentioning he could he no sense of nerves from the auditionee. “It’s so nice to hear a 15-year-old have that confidence in their own ability. It felt like if I was to get you to sing that song again, you wouldn’t sing it the same way twice. That is an amazing way to keep people on their toes.”
So, then began the tug of war to bring Ryley to their team. Kelly tried to woo Wilson to her team by pointing out she was the first to turn her chair while Chance the Rapper hinted he liked the “experimental R&B” in his voice. Coach Blake then boasted his wins and experience with the show for 23 seasons while Niall’s desperation to bring him on the team was clear from the start.
Ultimately, Ryley picked Team Niall as he believed that he would be soon “going through a voice change, and he [Niall] would really guide me through singing through a voice change.”
After successfully convincing Ryley to be on the team, Horan danced on stage in front of Shelton and the other coaches. “Ryley, Ryley, Ryley, how do we even start this?” he said.
So, now, that Ryley’s in Team Niall, he said that it was “one of the best decisions” he ever made.
Ryley Tate Wilson Career
Ryley only graduated from high school in 2023. So, he had yet to embark on a professional journey. And from the looks of it, he might be considering a music career. In fact, he already has a song out named “Anna Magdelena.”
