Samir and Samer Akel are appearing on Prime’s Twin Love to find the love of their lives. They are tired of gold diggers and are in search for genuine connections.
“Twin Love is a social dating experiment that explores the love lives of identical twins. Ten sets of twins will be split up and placed into two houses, creating identical casts, where they’ll begin a unique and compelling search for love,” the official synopsis read. “With double the fun and drama, the series will discover if their inherent similarities extend to their romantic desires. When separated from their twin brothers and sisters—some for the first time ever—will they pursue identical partners? Or will their choices be dramatically different?”
The featured twins will have to find out if their similarities translate to their romantic choices or how different they will be because of the show’s unusual style. The hosts of Twin Love, which is based on a model developed by ITV Studios Netherlands, are Brie and Nikki Garcia, better known as the Bella twins from Total Bellas and WWE.
The show premiered on 17 November 2023.

Samir and Samer Akel appeared on KTLA 5 Weekend Morning News on Nov. 18, 2023, to share their experience of being on the show. Samir shared that Prime’ Twin Love was a unique experience that they’ve been through. Samer said that it was a fun experience as they had not been surrounded by that many twins in their lives.
Samer added that it wasn’t easy but they definitely had fun during the process.
His twin Samir added that he never thought that they would be separated like that and they were missing each other. When asked if they were looking for the same thing in their future partner, Samir said “99%” whereas Samer added that the 1% is the personality trait that might differ between their choices. However, they chose not to elaborate much regarding confidentiality.

“My dad at that time went to Dubai for a business trip, and he got a phone call from somebody saying, ‘We know your kids are in Damascus right now. Either you pay us money, or we’ll give you their heads,’” Samer added.
Samer and Samir were in Damascus at the time of the phone call. “That’s when my dad called us that day and he said, ‘Go back home. Wait for me to get back to Syria.’ He literally got back to Syria and just bought us tickets to America.”
Originally intended to be a one-month stay in the United States for the brothers using their tourism visa, “that one month became 10 years,” Samer said. ISIS bombed their family home a year later, in 2013, and their father’s local businesses were seized.
“In the beginning, when we moved out here, I lost one of my best friends that ISIS killed,” Samer said. “I lost my two grandmas while I was here. That all happened in the first year of being in America.” With their father’s help, Samer and Samir obtained their Social Security and work permits and found an apartment in Woodland Hills.
Samir and Samer also have a sister named Sara Akel. Their dad is likely named Adel Akel who is 68 years old.

Talking about the most challenging part of owning a restaurant, the Akel brothers elaborated, “Keeping the customers satisfied. Because you know everyone’s got an opinion about your service. Everyone is happy or not happy about it. We start by keeping our prices reasonable and the amount of food we serve. Our portions are BIG. They’re big for the price we sell it for.”
