Sara Kunz is a two-time survivalist on N*ked and Afraid. Sara Kunz and Britt Laidlaw are paired up for the tribes’ challenge, and the two of them set out on a 21-day journey together before joining forces with another team.
Australian survivalist Britt tells PEOPLE in an exclusive sneak peek at this Sunday’s episode that she feels more attuned to nature when she experiences “free bleeding,” or menstruating without the use of period products to stop or collect blood flow, even though she is exhausted from her period in the heat of Limpokwena, South Africa.
While Sara is aware of the challenges Britt faces during her period, she begins to worry that her weariness is affecting her hunting skills.
“There’s one thing on my mind and that’s food,” Sara said. “I recognize the struggle Britt has between getting things done and allowing her body to rest, but I think as a team, we need to take food more seriously.”
In the trailer, Sara makes an effort to be silent while hunting and watches for the first duiker antelope that emerges from concealment. She becomes irritated, though, when Britt scares it away due to her excessive commotion in the water.
“This morning I woke up feeling in a pretty crappy mood and physically really really weak. I think primarily because of my cycle,” Britt said. “I need to get the water on my body to kind of refresh my state of being.”
“I hear my partner. There just can’t be anything here when it’s hunting time. There’s just no way it’s gonna work,” Sara remarked before the duiker, having heard Britt, is seen flying away. “Yup. There, I just saw him f—ing run away.”

Sara Kunz, when is not doing a survivalist gig, is working as a Lead Designer and founder at Survivor Stories. She created a trauma-informed mobile app for sexual assault survivors using content-driven user-sensitive designs that balance clinical data and human experience while conducting user testing and surveys to validate usability with clickable prototypes. She established success metrics to be used in validating the effectiveness of the app for grant and funding eligibility.
Sara has been a creator and speaker at Sara Kunz.com since 2013. She is also a performance artist at Flyin’ Hawaiian Productions.
Her other career milestones include working as a UX-UI Designer at Elevate and Therapy Buddy in 2020. She was a teacher assistant at Konawaena Elementary School.
On her Backstage profile, Sara stated that she is a circus performer and an actress. For that feat, she trained at Improv Boston, Beijing International Arts School, and Boston Acting Classes.
Speaking of classes, Sara graduated from the University of Oregon and studied UX and UI Design at CareerFoundry.
