As a child, most daughters dream of having adventures with their dad when they grow up. However, only a few are lucky enough to realize it. Well, Sharik Atkinson was one of those blessed ones whose childhood wish to participate in The Amazing Race alongside her dad came true in 2022.

Sharik Atkinson On Amazing Race 34
Sharik Atkinson was just 9 when she first watched The Amazing Race with her dad, Linton Atkinson. Intrigued by the events, she would then sometime suggest that they should go on it as a father-daughter duo.
“We watched every episode as a family when Sharik was growing up. We would choose teams to root for, and we were always rooting for the parent-child teams,” her dad recalled.
Well, fast-forward to almost 15 years of being an audience, Sharik now finally is rooting for herself on The Amazing Race season 34.
According to her dad, it was Sharik’s “manifestations” that bought them to the show. “Her manifestation first started gaining traction when she saw a casting ad for The Amazing Race on Instagram earlier this year,” Linton explained.
So, Sharik and her father then submitted a tape, were put in touch with casting directors, and were eventually cast for the show.
Thereafter, the father-daughter duo spent months in preparation walking/running around New York City. But still, Sharik knew the preparation wasn’t enough and was “nervous, excited, and terrified” all the same time. “It’s so surreal because this is the show that we’ve been watching since I was younger. To see the title sequence that we are in, it’s so absurd,” she added.
Luckily, Sharik and Linton made it past the first round.
On the other hand, contestants Aastha Lal and Nina Duong (a newly engaged couple from Marina Del Ray, CA) came last in the tasks as rolling a keg of beer through a series of obstacles, sawing through a log to get a clue, and smashing through a huge block of ice with a chisel, and were eliminated.

Sharik Atkinson loves her mother Darlene Atkinson and has no siblings.
Darlene (born: Jan 1973) is an American College of Education graduate who worked as an English teacher at NYC Public Schools. She married Linton Atkinson back in Feb 1994 (at the age of 21 and 23 respectively). Since then, the two have accomplished most of their dreams and have had an “amazing journey.”
“I know it’s our faith in God and our belief in the principles of the Bible that has kept us grounded. Laughter, adventures, patience, tears, forgiveness, and communication also play a huge role in keeping us together,” Darlene spoke about their relationship.
Also, Darlene knows it’s only because it was Sharik’s dad that they were together for over 27 years. She shared, “I got me a handsome, intelligent, God-fearing, ambitious, humorous, humble man and together we made a beautiful daughter. I really couldn’t ask God for more. I love you Linton and I’m excited to continue our journey together.”

Sharik Atkinson didn’t reveal her boyfriend in 2022. However, in the past, she was open about dating Vinny Ferreira.
Her boyfriend (likely former), Vinny is a University of Central Florida graduate who went on to work as an acquisition analyst at Blue Roc Premier LLC.
