Meet Sherman Williams, Christopher Meloni Wife
Actor Christopher Meloni who starred in Law & Order: SVU, knew what he wanted in his on-screen and off-screen life. He met his wife Sherman Williams in 1989 when the production designer rode her motorcycle to the set of the television series Christopher was working on.
Sherman’s bleached blonde hair and retro sunglasses caught Christopher’s attention. He immediately thought, “This I gotta meet”. They met and flirted, and Sherman invited Chris to a party, but she was with someone else at the time. Time passed, but when they met again, Chris had moved on with someone else.
“On our first date, we went to three parties, given by three sets of my friends,” Sherman recalled to YourTango. “The first was in West Hollywood. Every guy there was gay. Chris passed with flying colors. Next, we went to a party given by Beverly Hills snootballs. Chris kept his manners in check and held his own. Then we went to a costume designer’s party in the Hills, where we drank beers from a tub on the porch. And I thought: I can take him anywhere”.
They stayed friends for another two years. Finally, they started dating each other and continued doing so for four years, while living together.
Sherman and Christopher Meloni exchanged their wedding vows in July 1995. It was a medieval-themed wedding ceremony on the beach in Malibu. They threw back shots of tequila to celebrate their nuptials.
Choosing between Sherman’s choice for Los Angeles and Christopher’s preference for New York became difficult for the busy actor and production designer. Regardless of their tight schedule, they managed to make their marriage work and in 2022, they recently celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary at the time of his writing.
Their long-term domestic harmony comes from “Space, respect, trust, and freedom,” Sherman told Your Tango. It certainly helps, she added, that, “we just like each other”.
Chris, who left SVU in 2011, admitted to being his wife’s “biggest fan” to Architectural Digest in August 2017.

They are currently raising their two children, Sophia Eva Pietra Meloni and Dante Amadeo Meloni in the Big Apple after eventually persuading Sherman to move there. It didn’t take long for the actor and production designer to become split between the two coasts. Christopher preferred living in New York City whereas Sherman favored Los Angeles. Finally, the couple decided to settle on the east coast to raise their two kids.
On 23 March 2022, Sophia turned 21 years old. On Sophia’s 19th birthday, Sherman wished her daughter, “Happy 19th to my brave, beautiful and hard working baby girl. Love you”. Sophia endears her mother and she posts frequently about Sherman on her Instagram.

Back in January 2021, Sherman wished her son, “Happy 17 to my incredible son Dante! I’m the luckiest mom on the planet”. Dante turned 18 years old on 2 January 2022.
Both Sherman and Christopher were overly involved in their children’s lives. The actor told USA Today, “I think my kids would call me a little crazy. I’m very physical, very affectionate. I’m also very disciplined and focused on education. That’s one thing that was instilled in me, one place in life where there’s no compromise”.
He added, “I want them to engage in athletics or the arts because those are places they get to express themselves … I try to encourage that and say, ‘Please trust me. Wondrous things will happen on this journey of pain.’ ”
