Following the massive success of Bridgerton, Netflix ordered its prequel series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which centers on the earlier years of Queen Charlotte’s reign. If your memory is still intact, Golda Rosheuvel portrayed Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton. In Bridgerton’s prequel series, India Amerteifio takes on the role of a younger version of Queen Charlotte while Golda will return to portray the older queen. The article is about actress Golda Rosheuvel’s partner, Shireen Mula, who has been together with the Dune actress for quite some time.
Meet Shireen Mula, Actress Golda Rosheuvel Partner
Born in Guyana to a Guyanese father and an English mother, Gold Rosheuvel moved to England when she was 5. Growing up, Gold was very good at sports. However, a severe injury ruled out the possibility of Golda pursuing sports as a career.
Then, Drama and music were Golda’s preferred choices. Her parents’ fascination for music further enhanced her love of music. In fact, Bridgerston star’s parents met while singing in a choir in Barbados.
However, as fate would have it, one day during a career day at school Golda saw a guy behind one of the white tables, which had a ‘drama’ sign on it, and she immediately felt that that was what she will do for her remaining life.
Before her role in Bridgerton, Golda was primarily known as a stage actress. Some of her stage credits include Porgy and Bess, Macbeth, The Winter’s Tale, Romeo and Juliet, Angels in America, Bad Girls: The Musical, and Jesus Christ Superstar.
In March 2022, Golda shared a story of how she was nearly out of Bridgerton’s cast. As she told, she had initially auditioned for the role of Queen Charlotte’s friend, Lady Danbury. When that role went to Adjoa Andoh, she had lost hope.
However, Golda was asked to consider reapplying, and just some days before Christmas, she gave it another try. With the help of her partner Shireen Mula, Golda whacked a couple of scenes onto a demo tape and sent it to the director. To her surprise, the director liked it and sent it to the producer, Shonda Rhimes. That was how Golda landed the role of Queen Charlotte, with a little bit of luck and a whole bag of talent.

In April 2022, Golda spoke to host Marc Malkin on the Just for Variety podcast about an early career experience that left her baffled.
The Bridgerton star shared that while she was starting her career, she was told by a lesbian director to keep her sexuality a secret. “We were talking about being out and proud and representation and whether I should say I was gay in interviews. And it was an absolute no: ‘You absolutely shouldn’t do that. It could or it would ruin your career as an actor,” Golda recalled during the podcast.
Although Golda Rosheuvel is out and proud now, she said she found that incident quite strange and funny especially because she really admired the director.
In the same podcast, Golda also admired her partner Shireen and shared what she always says to her. “The mere fact that you’re on the screen. The mere fact that you’re in ‘Bridgerton’ as a Black, biracial, cis-gender, lesbian playing the first Black queen of England. The fact that you’re there is immense,” the 53-year-old actress shared.
The Bridgerton star revealed that she was motivated to inform fans of her sexuality to stay authentic.
