Simon Miall and Chris Hessney met each other soon after Simon moved to New York to pursue his career in finance. They met up being set up on a blind date by friends. Before meeting each other in person, they hadn’t even seen each other’s photos. Chris reflected on their first date saying that their first date was full of things that people aren’t supposed to talk about on a first date.

The couple hit it off immediately and discussed religion, marriage, crazy outlooks, and all other heavy topics. After six months of meeting each other, the dating couple moved in together. The love birds dated for nearly three and a half years before getting engaged.

They had talked about wanting to get married on their way to one of their friends’ wedding. Chris wanted an official proposal and three months later Simon popped the question, Christmas Eve of 2017 in London, while they were in London celebrating holidays. Simon got down on one knee and said, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you; I want to start a family with you. Will you marry me?'”

“The real proposal was a little high risk for me,” Simon shared with Harper’s Bazaar.

Simon and Chris tied the knots on 20 October 2018 and end up having a destination wedding and got married at Villa Balbiano in Lake Como, Italy. Chris, as a planner, focused on decor. Meanwhile, Simon handled the music and entertainment arrangements. The wedding was elaborate that lasted for three days, Harper’s Bazaar exclusively confirmed.

Speaking with SFERRA, Simon shared that he discovered a beautiful property by The Heritage Collection called Villa Balbiano. The beauty of the property solely became an inspiration to host their wedding reception.

The couple celebrated their second anniversary in Chris wrote, “Two years ago today, lucky me 🖤”
