Netflix’s Queer Eye’s Fab 5 made their mission to change the lives of ten Austin, Texas-based heroes, and the first person the Fab 5 visited was Terri White.
Terri is the daughter of James White and his wife Annetta White, co-founders of Broken Spoke. They established it on 10 November 1964. Broken Spoke is recognized for hosting country music legends such as Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, and many others, as well as being a legendary dancing hall, for those who are unfamiliar with the venue.
Coming back to ‘Queer Eye’, in the first episode which premiered on 31 December 2021, we saw that all the Fab 5 got into work immediately.
Terri explained that she, like Berk, has ADD, which drew Bobby Berk’s attention right away. His plan for her home was simple: simplify it completely to help her relax mentally. He kept Terri’s style throughout the house while giving it a much-needed makeover. When it comes to fashion, Tan France assisted her in achieving the upscale, refined image she desired by allowing her to highlight one aspect of her body at a time rather than the entire body.
Antoni Porowski encouraged her to pass along a dish from her grandmother, which enabled her to spend meaningful time with her grandson. Jonathan Van Ness steered clear of a touchy subject with her hair, knowing that her natural hair was a major cause of anxiety for her.
He dressed her wig, but he also advised her to accept her natural hair and focus on healthy growth. When it came to Karamo Brown, his main goal was to improve Terri and Ashley’s communication, as Terri had a hard time listening to those around her.
But, the thing is at the time of the shooting of Terri’s episode, COVID-19 lockdown was imposed which halt the production process. In May 2021, the production schedule resumed and the Fab 5 were worried that Terri might’ve got back to her old ways. But, to their surprise, it wasn’t the case.
She was doing even better than when they left her. Jonathan’s ground shook watching Terri thrive.

To explore Terri White’s job, she has built her career in the dance hall built by her father when she was a toddler. She worked in Broken Spoke as a night cook, day cook, waitress, and bartender. But besides the catering career, she also became the two-step instructor in Broken Spoke.
Terri instructed the wannabe cowboys and cowgirls on the dance’s proper technique at her family’s honky tonk.
But, 2021 proved heartless to the Broken Spoke and the family. Terri lost her father on 24 January 2021 according to Austin Chronicle. James died of congestive heart failure that was diagnosed 20 years before. He was struggling a lot regarding his health and reportedly was in and out of the hospital due to complications.
But, Terri took over and kept the place up and running which was her father’s legacy. Her mother served as the unofficial bouncer and dress code enforcer at the Broken Spoke.
As of 2021, Terri is still taking one-hour two-step dance lessons three times a week in Broken Spoke. She shared, “I love dancing because it makes you forget all your troubles. People need to quit b*tchin’ at each other and have a good time.” She also mentored a few celebrities such as Robert Plant, Patty Griffin, and Robert Duvall.
Hundreds of framed pictures of the Broken Spoke’s star entertainers line the walls, including ones of Willie Nelson, George Strait, Jerry Jeff Walker, Kris Kristofferson, Dolly Parton, and Marcia Ball.
The website revealed they only teach the traditional two-step, along with some Western Swing and the Cotton-Eyed Joe.
Terri’s Facebook revealed that she also gives private dance lessons. Speaking of her education, she graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School.
