Transgender actress Talisa Garcia has been cast in the upcoming Disney+ series Willow, also a reboot. Willow is about a princess who embarks on a mission to search for her twin brother. The original show aired in 1988. The spinoff is set years after the original plot.
The actress will appear on the show as a queen and mother to Tony Revolori’s character. She also made history as being the first openly transgender actor who is cast in production by Disney-owned Lucasfilm.

Talisa learned about a transgender actress through a doctor who diagnosed her as a transsexual. They gave her a book about the James Bond actress Caroline Cossey. Caroline starred opposite Roger Moore in the 1981 movie For Your Eyes Only. Talisa said: “Reading about this Bond girl that used to be a guy, I had a light at the end of a tunnel. If she could do it, I could do it.”

“With transgender characters, it has always been the same — the 6ft tall builder with a wig tilted to the side. Thankfully we’ve moved on.” Talisa shared, “Now, with getting Baptiste, I’m actually quite relieved that everyone knows. It’s a big weight off my shoulders.”

Talisa claimed that her partners didn’t care if she was a man before. However, not all men she had relationships with accepted her. She reminisced about one man who reacted badly and his family drove her out of the town she lived in at the time, threatening to mutilate and kill her.
But Talisa said: “It’s instilled in my DNA to survive.”

In 1991, Talisa Garcia started taking illegal female hormones she got from older people in the trans community. Her facial hair stopped growing and her breasts started to develop. Through her parents’ support, Talisa Garcia was able to have a full-s*x change surgery when she turned 18. She described the six-hour s*x-change operation as “dangerous and brutal”.
Her mother’s hands shook as she signed the slew of consent paperwork, and she recalls her mother repeatedly asking if she was sure.
Talisa revealed to The Sun, “When I was a kid, everybody used to call me ‘boy girl’ and ‘sissy’. I used to wear lip gloss and I was the only boy in the school doing ballet. But no one ever picked on me. All the tough kids in school were my best friends.”
“My parents said to me, ‘When you were three or four, we knew you were different.’ But they thought I was going to be a gay boy,” the actress added more. “When I was six or seven, I was playing with dolls. I didn’t want to cut my hair and I kept asking why the girls wore dresses but I had to wear shorts.”
The operation allowed her to embrace her sexuality as well as start a new career as an actress.
