As the premiere date of Sex Education Season 3 approached nearer and nearer, we had a piece of news (sadly it’s bitter this time) to share about two of the stars of the hit Netflix show. Aimee Lou Wood, who plays Aimee Gibbs, has finally commented on her split from co-star Connor Swindells, who plays Adam Groff in Sex Education.
The pair were in a relationship since 2018 after meeting on the set of Sex Education. They enjoyed two years of relationship bliss before parting ways in 2020.
Aimee talked about her relationship with Connor and the reasons for their split recently in a new exclusive interview with Grazia. In the same interview, she also talked about her feelings post their breakup and the importance of having some time alone.
If you want to know about all that, then don’t worry you are in the right place. In some hundred words below, we will talk all about that and more.
Why Did Aimee Lou Wood And Connor Swindells Split?
Though Aimee Lou Wood never explained the real reason for her split with her co-star, Connon Swindells, through what she said in an interview with Grazia, we can tell that lockdown played a vital role in their breakup.
She said, “We’d had some time apart and then we realized that maybe the relationship wasn’t serving us both.”
Aimee revealed that their breakup was amicable and they reached the decision upon mutual understanding. She said, “We still really love each other and respect each other. It was an okay breakup, it wasn’t dramatic.”
Aimee told, “I felt like a dam burst, then all of a sudden I was hurting, but I needed to be there, because I’d become a bit numb and it was nice to suddenly feel everything again,” to Grazia describing the emotions she experienced after the split.
As of September 2021, Aimee is enjoying being single. Talking about the importance of having some time alone for yourself she said, “I find it hard when I’m in relationships to maintain my sense of who I am. I’m very independent, but I’m also quite impressionable. I can be taken away from myself quite easily, I kind of start betraying myself and compromising my integrity, to keep someone else happy. That’s why I need to have time alone.”
How Did Lou Wood And Connor Swindells’ Romance Begin?
Aimee talked about lots of things about her personal life in her latest interview with Grazia, but she did not reveal how she struck up a romance with Connor.
Aimee and Connor first met on the set of Sex Education Season 1 in early 2018. But, it was not until the shooting had finished that they began dating.
Sex Education stars kept their relationship a secret for their first year of dating. The two only went Instagram official in a post shared on Connor’s 22nd birthday celebration.
Aimee’s fans did not even realize she was in a relationship with Connor until the first season of Sex Education had aired on Netflix.
How Long Did Lou Wood And Connor Swindells’ Relationship Last?
Given that Aimee and Connor began dating early in 2018 and were together till 2020, their relationship lasted for at least a couple of years.
Though their fans might not see them together in real life in the future, the viewers of Sex Education can see them share a screen in the 3rd season of the hit Netflix show, which will air on the streaming giant tomorrow on September 17, 2021.
Aside from Aimee and Connor, fans will once again see the likes of Asa Butterfield (as Otis Milburn), Emma Mackey (as Maeve Wiley), Gillian Anderson (as Jean Milburn), Ncuti Gatwa (Eric Effiong), among others on the screen when it comes out on 17 September.
Alongside the usual faces, Season 3 of Sex Education will see some new faces too. Harry Potter and Star Trek: Discovery actor, Jason Issacs, plays the role of Peter Groff, headmaster Groff’s successful and not so modest older brother. Girls actress, Jemima Kirke, plays the Moordale’s new headmistress after headmaster Groff was kicked out. And finally, the third edition is a songwriter and recording artist, Dua Saleh, who plays the role of a non-binary student at Moordale.
Don’t forget to watch the full episode of Sex Education Season 3 when it airs on Netflix at 8 am GMT.
