The Circle, a Netflix original series, is back after three seasons of popularity. If you’re new to the show, simply put, the contestants are social media users who have been given a twist. The competitors play the game as either a catfish or as themselves, according to the premise.
Participants flirt or form friendships without knowing who is on the other end of the line or whether or not they are telling the truth. Influencers have the ability to determine who will be eliminated next. When you’re removed from the game, your true identity is disclosed to the other players!
Yu Ling Wu On The Circle
Yu Ling Wu is one of the cast members of the show. In his intro, she described herself as, a “fun-sized firecracker”. “I’m first-and-a-half-gen Chinese American, and because both my parents are immigrants, they were always working to make sure there was food on the table,” Yu Ling explains in her Episode 1 introduction. “So I would say that I was raised culturally by MTV and VH1”.
Yu Ling is playing herself. She told, “Honestly I wouldn’t want to play anybody else”. She has plans on using being “a Gen Z-millennial cusp” to her advantage. “Millennials are kind of burned out and jaded, but Gen Z is super excited, positive,” she explains in the premiere episode. “So I’ll be relatable, but also hilarious. I don’t think I’ve ever been more ready for anything”.
Frank Grimsley, Crissa Jackson, Alyssa Ljubicich, and Rachel Evans are among the cast members who are portraying themselves alongside her. Josh Brubaker will portray Bru the catfish, Alex Brizard will portray Nathan the catfish, John Franklin will portray Carol the catfish, and Parker Abbott will portray Paul the catfish.
The winners of The Circle seasons 1 and 3 were Joey Sasso and James Andre Jefferson, Jr., who both won while playing themselves. DeLeesa St. Agathe, The Circle’s season 2 champion, dazzled audiences with her ability to portray her husband, Trevor, and the players were convinced Trevor was real until the very end.
The big prize of $150,000 will be up for grabs for these nine participants.
The show’s fourth season premiered on May 4, 2022. Instead of releasing the complete season at once, Netflix released The Circle episodes on a weekly basis. The episodes will be broadcast over the course of four weeks, with the finale airing on May 25.
This season, though, there is a twist. The Spice Girls were mentioned as having a role in the season. Netflix has been tight-lipped about the roles they will play this season.

Yu Ling Wu was born to Chinese immigrant parents. She is the child of first-generation immigrants. She hasn’t shared their personal details except for a few pictures. In January 2018 post, Yu shared that her father sings on a Chinese karaoke app religiously every night, has his own mic, and goes to the bathroom for better acoustics.
Whereas, Yu Ling’s mother is her biggest inspiration and she aspires to reach her level of indifference to haters.
In July 2018, Yu Ling did a thesis at Parsons school and discovered that her family had a legacy and a history in the States which dates back to railroads and about people she didn’t know existed and the stories her dad never shared because she “never asked”.
As for her Chinese name, her mother had asked her if she wanted to get an American name. But, she liked her name and never changed. Although “Yuling” was a single word, they changed it to “Yu Ling”.
In her graduation speech, Yu Ling shared that she wrote a performance “entirely based on her mother” titled American Dream, which also won an award at a festival.
More about her family, she has an older sister Lin Ling Wu. She got engaged in April 2017. Now, they are parents to two children.
