The One That Got Away, one of the newest offerings of Amazon Prime Video, is an experimental dating series, which sees six singles — men and women — getting a second chance at love. One by one, someone from each contestant’s past arrives through “the portal”, providing them with yet another chance at establishing a romantic connection. Yurika Yoneda was Vince Xu’s first love and after having no contact for more than ten years, Vince reunited with his first girlfriend on the set of The One That Got Away. The last time the two were face-to-face was actually at his senior prom over a decade ago, an experience they both remember as they had ridden the limo back then. So, it only made sense to ride one again for their first date. In TOTGA, not only do the two talk about their future but they also slow-danced under the open sky full of stars before sharing a kiss.
Although there were a lot of women including Mahnoosh, Isabel, and Andrea to walk through “the portal,” Vince and Yurika’s conversations on possible future family and their hot air balloon ride date pushed them closer than anyone.
